If it’s wet or has food on it, compost (if available) or landfill it. If it’s coated with plastic or foil, landfill it. 10 SORTING RULES OF THUMB RECYCLING PLASTICS If it falls to the ground when dropped, recycle it. If it floats to the ground when dropped, landfill it. 11 SORTING RULES OF THUMB RECYCLING METALS If it’s clean aluminum, tin, or steel, recycle it. 12 SORTING RULES OF THUMB RECYCLING GLASS If it’s clean and unbroken, recycle it. 13 SORTING RULES OF THUMB COMPOST If it was once living, it can be composted (but sometimes it’s a better use to recycle it, e.g., clean paper). 14 HOW CAN YOU HELP? • Be a minimalist. • Consistency is key. • Make it fun. • Follow through. • Save space. 15 HOW CAN YOU HELP?
