Substance use in a YMSM Cohort. This grant establishes a longitudinal,
dynamic, dyadic, network study young MSM to identify multilevel risk
factors for HIV infection and forward transmission. Total costs: $8,697,386.

HIV Prevention. This administrative supplement is to add rectal STIs as a trial
outcome. In kind funding was also agreed to by the CDC Division of STD

Prevention. This grant is to conduct a multisite randomized clinical trial of an

Rapid HIV Self-Testing among MSM in High Prevalence Cities (Multisite PI:
S. Tregear, Manila Consulting). This contract is to evaluate the effectiveness
of rapid HIV self-testing among MSM in terms of reliability of test results and
change in frequency of HIV testing. Total Costs: $6,992,765.

Prevention in Vulnerable Youth. This grant proposes to conduct longitudinal
and mixed methods research on young male same-sex couples as formative
research to develop a targeted HIV prevention program. Total Costs:

and HIV risk Among Vulnerable Young Men. This study proposes to recruit a

the prevalence, course, and predictors of a syndemic of health issues facing this
population. Total Costs: $ 3,173,328.

Principal Investigator, NIH 1R01DA025039-01A1. Gene-environment
interaction effects on HIV risk. This study capitalizes on a natural experiment
involving some families in a longitudinal study relocating out of public
housing to higher SES neighborhoods. We will explore the interaction
between genes and neighborhood environment to predict a cluster of
behavioral and health issues linked to HIV risk. Total Costs: $ 2,655,295.

Scholar and Principal Investigator, W.T. Grant foundation. The Internet as a
setting for sexual health development among LGB youth. This career
development award seeks to develop the PI as an expert in the Internet as a
context of sexual minority youth development. The aims of the embedded
projects are to conduct formative research on use of the Internet and linkages
to sexual health, study patterns of Internet use and sexual health, and to
translate findings into the creation of evidence-informed online health
promotion materials. Total Costs: $350,000.

Education Programs (PI: M. Reinecke). This grant is to create an LGBT health
track in the long standing Psychology Internship Program in the Department of
Psychiatry at Northwestern University. Interns will receive training in serious
mental illness in Psychiatry, LGBT Public Health Research and Services in the
IMPACT Program, Medical Psychology in the Division of Infectious Diseases,
and community mental health at the Center on Halsted. Total costs: $555,959.

Co-Investigator, NIH/NIDA R03 DA035704. Investigating change in HIV risk
in a self-monitoring diary study (PI: Newcomb). To test conditions under
which regular reports of substance use and unprotected sex can be collected for
observational purposes versus when they create behavior change.

Co-Investigator, 1R03DA033906-01. The development and analysis of a
macro-network of vulnerable young men (PI: M. Birkett). This ASTART grant
is for my mentee and new NIH investigator, Dr. Michelle Birkett, to conduct a
study linking networks of young MSM in Chicago in order to understand HIV
transmission and substance use behaviors.

mental health, and HIV risk (PI: J. Parsons). This study proposes to use
Respondent Driven Sampling (RDS) to recruit a longitudinal sample of MSM
to evaluate the association between sexual compulsivity and HIV-associated
risk behaviors.

Prevalence and predictors of suicidality among GLB Youth. This study
explores the prevalence of suicidal ideation and behavior among gay, lesbian,
