“Transforming Lives through Nature” Head of Finance and Administration Each year, Wilderness Foundation UK work with more than 3,000 plus young people in Essex, Berkshire, Scotland and South Africa, including some of the hardest-to-reach and most disadvantaged youth, to offer programs that utilize the irreplaceable quality of nature as a catalyst for transformational personal growth and change. All of our programmes and activities are built around our three main areas of focus; Improving Lives for at risk youth, Conservation Education, and Leadership Training. We currently have a vacancy for Head of Finance and Administration The ideal candidate will have previous experience of: Supporting the Chief Executive Officer and being part of the Senior Management Team Improving and managing a core business services infrastructure, systems and processes within Finance, Risk Management & Audit, and General Administration. Leading an annual budgeting process and supporting other senior staff and project managers in the implementation of planning and budgeting processes. Leading internal risk management, contract management, legal and audit functions; and relationships with banks, auditors, solicitors and HM Revenue. Identifying any significant financial and business regulatory issues affecting the organisation. Providing high-quality financial management on a timely basis and relevant analysis and support provided to the CEO, the senior management team and a board of trustees. No. 06003527 Skills required A recognised accountancy qualification or qualified by experience with strong technical accountancy skills. Significant experience of working in a senior management team or in a similar role. Extensive experience in strategic planning and budgeting for organisations; and the management of financial and administrative systems. Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Excel, accountancy software packages and Microsoft Word and Outlook. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style. Knowledge and experience in organisational effectiveness and operations management, and of implementing best practices. Knowledge and experience of the specialist accounting requirements of the UK charity sector (e.g., SORP standards). Some knowledge of Employment Law and HR (training can be arranged) Preferably an interest in youth people and the outdoors. Salary circa £30,000 per annum.
