Happy Holidays!
Thank you all for your support of IMC – the SoCal, San Fernando Valley and Orange County
chapters. It has been a productive year for all chapters: offering valuable educational speakers,
programs and workshops as well as evening networking events and a special “Day at the Races”
outing. We have formed an alliance with the LA Chamber of Commerce allowing IMC
members a special discounted membership fee. In addition, we have a new local IMC website
(http://www.imcsocal.org) which allows members and those interested in IMC to more easily
find IMC SoCal online, view upcoming events and keep abreast of important IMC news!
Special thanks go to the IMC board members and volunteers for their input of time and energy –
without these members, there’d be no IMC! Please continue your support by attending IMC
events, contributing your news to our newsletter and volunteering at your local chapter.
This month’s newsletter, in addition to member and chapter news, includes IMC members “New
Year’s Consulting Resolutions”and an informative “Get To Know…” interview with IMC board
member, Don Gilman.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE ADD “MAILCHIMP” TO YOUR EMAIL WHITELIST
Be Sure to Join the LA Chamber!: IMC SoCal is also pleased to announce that members may
now join the LA Chamber of Commerce as an Associate Member for only $100. per year. Click
here for more information.
Important: Join the IMC Southern California LinkedIn Group and participate in the
discussions – or start one of your own!

On December 7th, Mitch Dorger participated in an Experts Forum at the Flintridge Center in
Pasadena. The forum operates like speed dating. Executives can select from a variety of
consultants in different functional areas and spend about 45 minutes with them. When the
time is up, they move on to another expert. During the sessions, executives can visit up to three
different consultants. Sort of a novel idea and one that is very affordable for small nonprofit
organizations. Contact Mitch Dorger: mitch@dorger.com

A good one-sheet is more than a summary of what you do. A good one-sheet becomes the basis
for other promotional material- even a website – and it can guide your marketing program.
Robert Sax will explain how to develop a one-sheet that effectively sells the great story behind
your business. He will share valuable tips and will review one-sheets provided by the group.
About Robert Sax
Robert Sax learned how to sell stories in the film industry, where story is everything. He founded
SAX PR/Marketing after a career as a feature film producer, story editor and screenwriter.
Robert provides marketing and public relations counsel to business and consumer products and
services companies. His client list includes Disney Consumer Products, Extrabux.com, Los

From Marsha Lewin:
This article discusses proposed new tax hikes that could affect consultants by taxing their fees.
“A near glut of initiatives that would raise taxes are being aimed at the November 2012 ballot…
It would reduce personal and corporate tax rates, but expand the sales tax to services like those
provided by lawyers and accountants.” To read more,
