Day & Date : 14th December, 2012 Time : 3.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. Venue : Babubhai ChinaiCommittee Room (2nd floor), IMC, Mumbai ‘Family Owned and Managed Businesses’ have played a leading role in the context of commercialization of the Indian economy. This fact is manifested through the strong/powerful foundation of ‘joint family groups’ imbibed in our Indian tradition since centuries. However, these businesses are faced with their own set of challenges while struggling to strike a balance between managing family expectations and the needs of business. In the context of the changing times, these family businesses are facing challenges that do not have easy answers. Of course there will be no one formula that fits all and no readymade answer, but these deliberations will open up newer directions for further deliberations. Therefore, professionalism and organization became an essential base for running profitable businesses. The seminar focus will be on different modes of acquiring financial assistance from banks and other financial intermediaries. Also, the pioneering and evolving role of women in successfully managing business will be dealt upon. Expanding business through exploring the alternatives of different product lines, innovation and expansion of production scale will also be a primary focus. The objective of this forum is to provide specific guidelines for budding entrepreneurial class and current leaders by training them to act as “change agents” for revolutionizing the approach towards business.
