The main aims of ergonomics and work study are decrease cost, idle times and eliminates valueless activities. Decreasing work stress and fatigue will affect efficiency and costs. These will increase the importance of working postures. In this study REBA method is explained. 2. Aims of the REBA Develop a postural analysis system sensitive to musculoskeletal risks in a variety of tasks. Divide the body into segments to be coded individually Provide a scoring system for muscle activity caused by static, dynamic, rapid changing or unstable postures. Coupling is important in the handling of loads Give an action level with an indication of urgency. Require minimal equipment 3.1 Scoring table of trunk ENM418 - Technical English IV Movement Score Upright 1 0º-20º flexion 0º-20º extension 2 20º-60º flexion >20º extension 3 >60º 4 flexion Change score +1 score If twisting or side flexed 3.2 Scoring table of Neck ENM418 - Technical English IV Movement Score 0º-20º flexion 1 >20º 2 flexion or in extension Change score +1 score If twisting or side flexed 3.3 Scoring table of Legs ENM418 - Technical English IV Position Score Change score Bilateral weight bearing, walking or sitting 1 +1 If knee(s) between 30º and 60º flexion Unlateral weight bearing Feather weight bearing or an unstable posture 2 +2 If knee(s) are >60º flexion (Not for sitting) 3.4 Scoring table of upper arms ENM418 - Technical English IV Movement Score Change Score 20º extension to 20º flexion 1 +1 If arm is * abducted *rotated >20º extension 20º-40º flexion 2 45º-90º flexion 3 >90º flexion 4 +1 If shoulder is raised -1 If leaning, supporting weight of arm or if posture is gravity 3.5 Scoring table of lower arms ENM418 - Technical English IV Movement Score 60º-100º flexion 1 <60º flexion or >100º flexion 2 3.6 Scoring table of wrists ENM418 - Technical English IV Movement Score 0º-15º flexion / extension 1 >15º flexion / extension 2 Change score +1 If wrist is deviated or twisted 4. Calculating final score ENM418 - Technical English IV 5. Determining the risk level ENM418 - Technical English IV 6. Conclusion ENM418 - Technical English IV Better tool for whole body –static, dynamic, unstable or rapidly changing postures User-friendly, tables used to compute scores Good for health care & service industries –Not as useful for production line work ENM418 - Technical English IV Thank you for paying attention!
