“What’s Up With Wattpad?” Orange…letter W…STORIES Three descriptions yet they mean a single fact. We are born in a technology-advanced generation and instead of paper-paged books, we are already getting used to eBooks, mobile books…and oh! Have I forgotten to mention WATTPAD? Only Wattpad fits the descriptions above. We may think at first that it could be pretty boring sitting all day facing your computer (or iPad) reading the current story. But you know, that’s only first impression about Wattpad. It’s normal on every beginner to think that it’s so not cool reading in the computer whereas they prefer reading real books. You know what I found out? Yeah I was also on that verge but then I realized that there are much cooler stories to read on the website. There are some categories in which we can relate in real life and there are others which we find unusual and interesting. Let us take for example aril_daine’s SADIST LOVER. It’s a story about a girl named Miyuki Sharlot who no matter how unsure she is about her relationship with Jake, she still listens to her heart by clinging on to their soon-to-be-ruined love. She then meets Nathan Lance Mariano at an unexpected time at a CD store where she eventually hates him after a bad encounter at that faithful day. Miyuki finds out that Nathan is a transferee in her school and that they are both in the same classroom. She tries to be friends with him but eventually he starts to realize that Miyuki’s relationship with Jake is falling apart yet Miyuki isn’t giving up. He tries to prove how wrong she is and during that stage, he starts to like her (we can tell that Nathan is the kind of boyfriend, Miyuki didn’t see in Jake’s personality). After finding out that Jake isn’t really that in love with her (at least that’s what he told her) she got into sadness and asked for Nathan’s help...what kind of help? For her to move on from Jake. Nathan understood that Miyuki might be reciprocating his feelings for her but not more than he feels. They get into a fake relationship and acted as if they are a true couple; fortunately Miyuki falls in love with Nathan for real this time and confessed to him before his flight to America, but the story does not end there. It’s only the beginning. I wouldn’t be sharing the whole story so it is for the interested readers to find out. Of course, their relationship isn’t a perfect fairytale one. They had obstacles that challenged their love for each other. Wattpad isn’t only about reading stories but also meeting new people and socializing with them no matter how far the distance between the both of you is. You’ll meet different people with different personalities. We may think some authors or readers are bad or lame but once you’ll get in touch with them, you’ll finally know who they really are. “Wattpad is a part of my life.” aril_daine shared. Yes, Wattpad can be a part of your life. Once your story gets appreciated by thousands (or even millions) of readers then a part of your life starts to excite. You get hyper when you see the reads increasing quick and readers share lovely comments. We don’t want to get more votes or comments anymore; instead we write based on what we feel just as HaveYouSeenThisGirL said, “[Ang Wattpad ay] tambakan ng imagination kong pakalat kalat sa utak ko.” It is true actually. As a fellow author, I could say that sometimes there is a need of releasing our imaginations and put them into good use. Good use—I mean Wattpad. Where else would I put them at this time of life? I still can’t afford on publishing my stories or publishing them on eBook sites. There is so much to learn from Wattpad. They enable us netizens to also spread our talents and well also to show them the extent of our imaginations. There is no judgement when you’ll have errors because your readers understand you and because they love you. Trust me, I’ve been fangirling to amazing authors of my fave stories even though they treat themselves us normal citizens no matter how famous they are for their successful story. I’ve already conversed with several authors and all I can say is that they are all GOOD-HEARTED persons and they are fun to talk with. Even though I haven’t talked to them personally, judging from the attitude they show on the social networks, I guess it would be a BIG DREAM for me to meet them in person. Who knows right?
