Due to the advancement of technology an application (app) was created which presents a new style of reading book through mobile phones or desktop computers one of which is Wattpad. According to Course Hero, a known blog in the internet, wattpad was created and developed by the partnership between Allen Lau and Ivan Yuen. It is a community of writers who are able to post articles, stories, poems, and fan fiction either through online or through the Wattpad app. Because of the release of the application (app), people can publish their works like how famous authors do in their own books. On March 2014, Wattpad decided to print Filipino Wattpad stories in the Philippines and signed a contract with Pop Fiction, and imprint of Summit Media. Through this many books that came from the app are already now printed and are available on bookstore that people can easily buy and read it. As this printed Wattpad books became so popular in a library decided to buy different books that are under Wattpad. As the time goes by, a librarian has received a report that there are malicious scenes in Wattpad books, so they have decided to pull out the books in the student library. 2 With the abovementioned scenario, it explained that there are some articles made that need a strict supervision and guidance from the elders; because of the uncensored lines or stories published in this application that most of the youngsters are engaging themselves to reading of these articles. It was also very evident that nowadays, young people dwell most of their time reading wattpad than reading a book. That is why this research was made to inspire the researchers. This study aimed to help the students to encourage themselves to have a good reading habits and to avoid too much reading that they can’t benefit on. In every side of its content we can get advantages and disadvantages through reading these printed Wattpad Books. It may give us time to relax and have fun in relating to the characters in the plot, but it can also influence us to do things that are not appropriate for our age especially that teenagers nowadays are very curious and ignorant of the things that these books may hold. Students should be advised to limit the time they spend on reading Wattpad per day and encourage them to substitute those time in their studies to improve their knowledge. They should consider all the importance of studies that education is the foundation of life. 22 2. The teacher should provide varied instructional materials such as books, magazines, and other materials that interest the learners to develop their reading comprehension. 3. They should employ different strategies such as the use of graphic organizer to facilitate the teaching-learning process like story map, story pyramid, KWL, Venn diagram, story frame, sematic mapping, and webbing to encourage maximum participation among the learners and to stimulate and develop their thinking ability especially in reasoning and logical thinking. 4. The teacher should employ remedial teaching to strengthen the weakness of the students and for them to master the necessary skills in reading competency. 5. Furthermore, the teacher should always ask questions following the different levels of comprehension questions after the next had been read starting with literal, interpretative, towards the judgmental thinking. With the teacher’s skilful and creative art of questioning the pupil will develop their thinking ability especially their comprehension. 6. The students should be encouraged to speak in English inside and outside the classroom to develop their competency in the said subject. 7. They should also guide the reading activities of their children regularly. 8. The teacher’s should encourage students to read wattpad aside from reading books and magazines for them to enhance their reading comprehension. 23 9. Finally, the school should conduct seminars and conferences about the remedial measures that are beneficial in upgrading the knowledge and potentialities of the students in reading comprehension. 24 BIBLIOGRAPHY BOOKS “English Proficiency Test for teacher applicants”. This is a true story of something happened just a few years ago in foreign university. There was a professor of philosophy in a school who was a deeply committed atheist. His primary goal for one required class to spend the entire semester attempting to prove that god did not exist. His students were always afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable logic. For twenty years he taught his subject and no one ever had the courage to go against him. Sure, some argued in class at times, but no one ever really went against him because of his reputation. At end of every semester, on the last day, he would say to his class of 30 students. “If there is anyone here who still believes in god, stand.” In those twenty years, no one ever stood up. They knew what he was going to do next. He would say “Because anyone who believes in God is a fool. If God existed, he could stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground and breaking. Such a simple task to prove that He is God, and yet He can’t do it.” And every year, he would drop the chalk onto the tile floor of the classroom and it would shatter into a hundred pieces. All of the students would do nothing but to stop and stare. Most of the students thought indeed that God couldn’t exist. Well, a few years ago there was a freshman who happened to enroll. He had heard the story about this professor. He was required to take the class for his major, and he was afraid. But for three months that semester, he prayed every morning that he would have the courage to stand up, no matter what the professor said, or what the class thought. Nothing they said could ever shatter his faith Finally, the day came. The professor said, “If there is anyone here who still believes in God, stand up!” The professor and the class of 30 people looked at him, shocked, as he rose from his seat at back of the classroom. The professor shouted, “You FOOL! If God existed, he would keep the piece of chalk from breaking when it hits the ground!” He processed to drop the chalk, but as he did, it slipped out his hand, into his pants, down his leg, and off his shoes. As it hit the ground, it simply rolled away unbroken. The professor’s jaw dropped as he stared at the chalk. He looked up at the young man, and then ran out of that lecture room. The young man, who has stood, proceeded to walk to the front of the room and shared his faith for the next half hour. 1. What is the author’s main point in the selection? a.
