Introduced committee leader and NJHS vice president, Michael Gao

Discussed the Purpose/Expectations of Service Committees

all NJHS members are required to join & participate in a service committee b/c the purpose of NJHS is to
promote service in our school and community

attend committee meetings with other like-minded students and create and plan service opportunities that will
benefit your school and community and beyond

committees will create an event centered around their type of service for each month

members are required to attend all committee meetings

members are not required to attend every event envisioned by your committee, but you are expected to actively
participate in the committee’s creative process by giving of your time and thoughts at meetings

members are expected to participate in at least one committee planned event each semester
Made General Announcements

Dues begin next general chapter meeting 10/17 = $5 – pay online or by cash or check made out to Lowery
Freshman Center given to Ms. Perry

Hours Submission = 12 hours due by Oct 17th; submit via Naviance

Next General Chapter Meeting is Oct. 17th after school in Lowery Cafeteria – attendance required; must submit a
note for any excused absence. One excused absence for personal reasons is permitted per semester. Excused
absences for school related events are permitted.

Next Committee meeting will be after general chapter meeting on Oct 17th

Members can change committees after Oct 17th (effective Nov 1st) if they wish

Canned food drive starting soon

Collection for ACO; on two days on October, each subcommittee goes to ACO to help unload cans

