APHUG 2015-16 Population Country Assessment This project is the first part of your online portfolio documenting the human and physical geography of a specific country. It requires an analysis of the population situation and issues in the country to which you have been assigned. You will be assessing this country’s human and physical geography situation throughout the year. You will be building a website using Google Sites (must be in this format) and will add content throughout the course. Part I: Introduction (Main Landing Page) 1) Create a “home page” for your country portfolio. What you put there is up to you, but you will be assessed on neatness and detail. Some ideas of what to add might include (but not limited to): a. Flag b. Pictures of landscape c. Map d. Elements of culture Part II: Describe in detail the following items related to your country (on a separate “page” on your website) 1. The country’s current situation: a. Type of country (MDC, LDC, etc.) b. Population c. Location, showing region of world and map d. Economic generally as well as detailing the major sectors, including employment information e. Living standard with supporting figures f. Unemployment figures g. Government type h. Healthcare structure 2. Draw/insert and analyze its population pyramid a. Analyze historical trends in DTM and population pyramids to assess and explain the country’s history and key events that have impacted population b. Copy the current population pyramid into the document c. Explain its stage in the DTM and tie the current population pyramid into your analysis d.
