Assessment
Grading Criteria for this topic adapted from the University guidelines:
High Distinction: This grade is awarded for an original and distinguished analysis of
the topic, including in-depth synthesis of the ideas, wide ranging reading plus a
polished presentation and writing style characterised by clarity of
expression. (>85%)
Distinction: This grade is awarded for a strong analysis of the content area, and a
sophisticated synthesis of the major issues. This grade requires evidence of wider
additional reading that supports the argument. (75-84%)
Credit: This grade is awarded for a comprehensive analysis and synthesis of the
major issues, well organised and presented. To have teased out the major issues
the student must demonstrate an understanding of the assigned readings and
evidence of some additional literature. (65-74%)
Pass:The basic concepts are covered, with little or no elaboration and there is
evidence only of the essential readings. This is characterised by lists of ideas,
rather than connected concepts. (50-64%)
Fail:There is evidence that shows insufficient reading to cover the topic OR the
written response does not address the question. (<49%)
Assignment 1-Online Referencing/Person Centred Quiz (5%)

You must wait at least 2 hours between attempts.

Assignment 2 – Discussion Group Leader (15%)

DSRS4102: Expectations will match AQF level 7 (See SAM) - Strictly 300 words including questions
DSRS9064: Expectations will match AQF level 9 (See SAM) - Strictly 300 words including questions
You will be allocated a week in which to lead the discussion for your peers and a
specific reading which you are to summarise and suggest 2 or 3 questions for your
peers to respond to. This is due March 29. Your summary will be graded out of 5. If
the grade is 3 or better, then the summary and questions will be uploaded to to the
appropriate week ready for discussion (You will have the opportunity to resubmit until
you achieve at least 3/5.
During your allocated week you are expected to take an active lead in the "Outside

You are required to provide a plan to introduce an appropriate iICT for a person with
a disability matched to the National Disability Standards. The definition of a person with a
disability is always problematic - for this exercise an individual over 16 should be in
receipt of a Disability Support Pension (or equivalent) or if under 16 and the
schooling system be eligible for additional support in under the relevant Student with
Disabilities Policy. Individuals with learning difficulties do not normally meet these
criteria.
Assignment 4 - Group Report "iICT" in Place (30%)
This assignment will be discussed early in the topic. The Group Wiki is a “real world
report” for a specific organisation that will be offered access to a summary of the
recommendations at the end of this topic. The opportunity to use current and
emerging technologies to improve the lives of people with disabilities is the major
focus of this assignment.
Part a) Group Work plan due 15 May
Part b) Group Report: iICT in Place (20%) due 1700 Sunday 30 May
(Extension cannot be given on group activities) The report (Wiki) should not
exceed 5,000 words including any appendices (aim the body to be around
3,000 words). With the very small number of undergraduates, overall
expectations will be more aligned to AQF level 9 (see above). You are
encouraged to include video, links to websites and other resources.
Assignment 4a) Feedback Self-reflection and evaluation of individual input of

unable to contribute to the content of the wiki; 1 mark: I had
limited input into the content of the wiki; 2 marks: I had some input
into the content of the wiki; 3 marks: I had substantial input into
the content of the wiki; 4 marks: I had substantial input into the
content and development of the wiki; 5 marks: I had substantial

involved with the final editing and presentation)

Assignment 6- Online Moderated Self-Assessment (20%)

You will be asked if you have completed at least one posting and reply each week
(as required in the SAM). You will be also asked when you posted to each
"Outside the Square" and made your first reply to give you an indication if you
were keeping up and not leaving everything to the last minute. You will also be
asked to copy what you consider to be your best post. You will also be asked to
rate your Input (not EFFORT) into the forums.
Please remember at Higher Education level the grading in all assignments is
based on output not effort (I always assume you have made your best
effort).
When you attended MNL or watched the recordings will also be asked to ensure
that you record if you kept up to date. All this data is logged in the system, but the
quickest way to find this is to look at the weekly 'Outside the Square' each posting
has a time and date. You will know when you took part or saw MNL.
Similar questions will be asked about when you did the weekly readings.
I am able to see exact times of access for each reading, MNL recording and
posting for each student if there are queries. But I would usually rely on your
honestly.
This exercise is a very good tool for your self-reflection about the topic. However
be a little careful about the grade (/20) you give yourself, eg one post and one
reply, watching MNL and doing the readings are the expectations of the topic and
result in a Pass (10 to 12 marks) what would be considered to be Credit (13,14,15)
Distinction (16,17), or High Distinction (18,19) would be based on additional
output through extra reading postings etc. When all are entered I will moderate
each of your suggestions looking at all others.
I think you will need to allow about an hour to do this when it is released.
