Pavilion Break in Process Sporting Pavilions are occasionally targeted by thieves. If your sports pavilion was broken into, would you know what to do? If there is a break in at your Club’s pavilion, follow these 3 simple steps: 1. Contact Police – Clubs are encouraged not to touch any items on site as this may compromise the scene and prevent the police from obtaining vital evidence. Wherever possible, Clubs are advised to obtain a police report. 2. Contact Council (Out of Hours) – The Club must contact Council as soon as the police have been notified. Council’s Out of Hours number is 9688 0200 and is active on all week nights and weekends following the closure of Council offices. Clubs will be required to state the name and address of the premises issue at hand and provide contact details of a Club represented in case further information is required. Once reported to Council’s Out of Hours service, a member of our Building Maintenance team will attend and secure the premises. 3. Advise Recreation Services – An email must be sent to the Community Recreation Officer to advise of the incident. As Club liaison, it is important that the Community Recreation Officer is kept informed throughout all Club incidents. Preventing Break Ins Most pavilion break ins record high levels of alcohol theft. Clubs are encouraged to minimise the amount of alcohol stored on site wherever possible to avoid being targeted by thieves. It is recommended that all alcohol be removed from sport pavilions throughout any prolonged periods of absence (i.e. Christmas).
