Badminton

Badminton




Badminton is a net sport that
can be played as an individual
sport or as a team sport .
singles is played on your own
against another opponent.
Doubles is played in pairs these
can be single-sexed or mixed.
Badminton is played on a court.

The badminton court
lines differs for singles
and doubles.
In singles, the court
lines are long and thin.
In doubles, the court is
short and fat for
service, then full court
throughout rest of play.
Badminton games




Games can be singles,
doubles and mixed
doubles games.
All games are now
played up to 21 points.
Winners are decided
best out of 3 games.
A point is awarded
after every rally.



If any match is drawn
20-20 play continues
until 2 clear points are
established.
If it reaches 29-29 the
first to 30 is the
winner.
The winner of the first
game will start serving
the second game.
Service





Badminton games all start with a
service.
Service is played from one service
court diagonally opposite to the
other.
Players alternate between sides
as the points are won.
The server always serves from the
right-hand box at the start of a
game and when they have an
even number of points. eg.
0,2,4,6,8,10
They serve from the left-hand
court when they have an odd
number of points. eg 1,3,5,7 etc.
Basic rules




Serves must be underarm and played below
waist, both feet must have contact with
floor and the shuttle must go over service
line.
You must hit the shuttle only once before it
goes over the net.
You can’t touch the net with your racquet or
any part of your body.
Shuttle landing on the court line is deemed
‘in’.
