Job title: Marketing and Promotions Manager – Fundraising

Reports to: Hear of Community Partnerships/ Head of
Fundraising Operations and Supporter Care.
Purpose of job
To lead the planning, development, and delivery of a high
quality Marketing and Promotions Service that meets the needs
of the RNIB Fundraising Group.
Impact:
Service provided across fundraising particularly Community,
Lottery Statutory & European, Major Donors, Corporate,Events,
READ and Trusts.
Financial responsibility:
Budget management of approximately £200,000.
Decision making responsibility:
Makes decisions affecting team service requiring analysis of
many sources of information and uses own specialist
judgement to interpret varied facts, procedures and or policy.
Refers to line manager for strategic decisions.
Main accountabilities:
1. Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of
marketing and promotional plans and activities.
2. Create a culture of customer focus and high performance.
3. Keep abreast of market conditions and developments in
relevant business sectors, identifying potential opportunities
and sharing information and recommendations with line
manager.
4. Identify areas for customer insight development and
research in conjunction with Corporate colleagues.
5. Work with Digital team to lead fundraising’s online
presence, including websites, Search Engine Optimisation
and social media.
6. Work with Corporate Marketing team to ensure consistency
of messaging and branding and to maximise opportunities
for economies of scale where appropriate.
7. Liaise with the corporate Communications team over local
and national media exposure and dealing with media
events and enquiries.
8. Work collaboratively with other parts of RNIB in promoting
fundraising and services.
9. Manage and report marketing spend.
10. Develop and report on key performance indicators to
ensure that marketing activities are delivering against
specific business targets.
11. Lead and support projects as required by the Head of
Department.
12. Utilise all information available to seek out new markets
and to identify opportunities for service
development/diversification in response to the changing
needs of the marketplace and customers.
13. In conjunction with Community Fundraising Develop an
annual Marketing and Promotional plan for Community
Fundraising products and events, ensuring deadlines are
met.
14. Build and sustain strong working relationships and ensure
effective communication is maintained with the Heads of
Department, Unit Heads and Corporate teams.
15. Develop an effective strategy for communication that
supports the delivery of consistent/coherent messages in
relation to fundraising.
16. Communicate and negotiate effectively with customers and
stakeholders, adapting the style to suit the audience.
17. Representation at internal or external meetings.

18. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.

Person specification
All criteria are essential unless otherwise stated
1. Specialist knowledge, skills and experience
1.1 A recognised marketing qualification e.g. a degree or
equivalent qualification with a specialism in marketing,
Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Diploma or
equivalent experience.
1.2 Experience of planning, implementing and evaluating a
Marketing & Promotions service in a large and complex
organisation to deliver excellence for customers.
1.3 Experience of developing effective systems for monitoring
and measuring business performance.
1.4 Experience of setting, managing and monitoring budgets.
1.5 Experience of influencing, convincing and negotiating with
others to achieve success.
2. People management skills/ team working skills
2.1 Ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders
both internal and external.
2.2 Experience of recruiting and performance managing staff
and implementing and monitoring corporate people
policies.
3. Planning and organisational skills
3.1 Ability to prioritise and schedule events, activities and
resources to deliver a high level Marketing & Promotions
service across a number of locations.
4. Problem-solving and creative skills
4.1 Experience of using professional judgement and
interpreting facts, policy and strategy to make
recommendations.
4.2 Ability to generate and deliver new and imaginative
approaches that demonstrate openness to challenging
