Timeline of Astronomical Knowledge
We as a class will be constructing a time-line that depicts the evolution of thought
about astronomy. The following list is a small and shortened list of people who have
contributed to our current understanding of astronomy. This list covers a very
small number of the total number of people who have contributed to our collective
understanding:

You will be selecting one of the following people from the list. Your poster should
contain the following:
Part A: 20cm wide x 26cm high “WANTED” poster on coloured paper or Bristol
board. There should be a 1cm border (in a different colour) all the way around.
Requirements:

Full name of Astronomer (in large text at top) next to the word: WANTED
‘Mug Shot’ of Astronomer (can be printed off of a computer)
date of birth and death (if applicable)
major crimes against astronomy (additions to current understanding of
astronomy (diagrams acceptable if hand drawn))
interesting facts to help track down or find this person
Make it look good!
Part B: 150 – 200 word biography of your astronomer. Outline in paragraph form:
the country of origin, key influences (if any), major contributions to astronomical
knowledge, and any other interesting facts about this person. If you need any
diagrams you may include them as well.
Use APA referencing. Include all references (3 minimum) in alphabetical order
under biography section of poster.
