YLI works to build the skills of youth to identify and influence policy and positive community change. YLI's organizational model creates a dynamic synergy between our multiple community-based programs implemented across four California offices and the training & consulting services we deliver to communities nationwide. This approach allows the agency to regionally test out and pilot new initiatives, advance and capture fresh ideas out in the field, and then incorporate them back into our local programming and training & consulting offerings. About the Position: This is a full-time, exempt position located in San Francisco, CA. Reporting to the CFO; this candidate will be responsible for various accounting management and financial analysis functions. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong financial foundation to gain and demonstrate Senior Management reporting and analysis in a growing organization. This is a full-time position in YLI's San Francisco office, conveniently located in Downtown near Powell BART and public transit. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Plans and directs accounting activities within the Accounting Department by performing the following duties, personally or through supervision. Manages various General Ledger functions such as journal entry preparation / month end close, financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation. Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management, budget, and cost allocation accounting. Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports for both internal and external stakeholders. Oversees the government and private grant budget functions. Ensures timely completion of budget proposals, grant financial reporting and support documentation, and other fiscal documents including budget modification, continued funding applications, contract renewal etc. Oversees monthly invoicing of program expenditures to ensure grant spending is within the scope of the grants and contracts. Directs the maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records. Provide oversight for accounts payable and accounts receivable with close attention to cash flow analysis and forecasting. Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls. Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting. Directs the installation and maintenance of new accounting, inventory, property, and other related procedures and controls to safe guard agency assets. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 4-7 years of experience in an accounting / finance setting, general ledger experience. At least 2 years of supervisor experience. Experience in handling a variety of month end close responsibilities and working within generally accepted accounting principles. Strong skills working with excel – ex. Pivot tables, data mining and advanced formula creation. Working knowledge of QuickBooks or Sage MIP and IBS Payroll a plus. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and simultaneously manage multiple demands and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with solid problem solving skills.
