Career & Education – Planning Your Future Self All of this work will be hosted on a Page of Your website Titled “My Future Self” Complete the work in word, powerpoint, prezi, pdf, jpeg etc. and then place the documents in order within your page on Weebly. Make a submission to Edmodo as you complete each assignment. PART 1: My Golden Future The mission: No longer are you allowed to sleep in and enjoy your summer vacation, your winter break, or any of those twelve hour siestas.. you are now part of the critical mission control team. Planning for your future...next stop. ..planning for you new Career. In this assignment you will be thinking about your future, considering what you will be doing after you leave these "halls of learning". The Assignment: In a document format of your choice describe your future self, age 35. Be as honest and openminded as possible as the assignment's intention is to see what you are planning at the current time. As you progress through the course things will change. That being said...don't sell yourself short.... let us know and include as much details as possible. What will your typical day, month, year look like. Do you travel, have vacation time, live in the city, have a cottage…are you married, do you have hobbies or sports in your life… Assessment: You will be assessed based on your openness and honesty worth 5 marks. PART 2: My Interests, Skills, Aptitudes, Values, & Attitudes You will have to make sure that you know the definitions of the following words: Skills, Interests, Aptitudes, Values, and Attitudes. Reference can be found on the internet, a dictionary, or from other sources. Mission: Complete The "How You See Yourself" charts (there are 2 of them) You can completing the work in a word document and simply just copy and paste the following charts in. Make sure that you answer the following questions: -Title of Career & Brief Description -Salary expectations -Career potential (Is it a growing career? What will be happening in the next few years?) -Education requirements both for high school and postsecondary. -Schools that offer your career 2. INQUIRY QUESTION: - Use the Inquiry package I gave you to develop a deeper question that you are genuinely interested in exploring at this point in your journey towards planning your future. You will be assessed on completion with the expectation that you have a will framed question and have at the very least begun exploring its potential answers. ***These questions and their paths/answers should then be added to your Inquiry Course Projects Presentation Hints: Remember the PPT,or prezi, is meant as an aide to your presentation...it is not your presentation. Here are some often-used sites: Education Planner A good site to find what your education is worth, what schools offer it and the requirements to get in. Job Futures 2000 (Human Resources Development Canada) A great site that gives details on your career. Remember that for BC and Alberta students, the average salary is much lower than the markets are currently paying. PART 5: Education and Career Plan Questions Mission Team: Sit down with your parent(s) or guardian(s) and have a discussion. Answer all questions below honestly. I strongly encouraged to discuss your options with family members, school counselors, mentors, or other members of your support network. You are after all, making decisions which will affect you for the rest of your life!
