FORMAT - This project is an oral presentation and it must be done individually - You will need to provide evidence of valid research about your famous person - You will use technology (powerpoint, google docs presentations, sliderocket, prezi etc) to introduce your person, answer 5 questions about him/her, and come to a conclusion about him/her. You will have 7 slides total, plus a works cited slide. RECHERCHE : Je vous suggère de limiter votre emploie de l’internet comme utile de recherche. Do NOT rely on Wikipedia, it is not always accurate and not considered a scholarly resource. Le 30 mai, on va se réunir avec Mme Musilli pour apprendre comment faire la récherche. - You will have 5 class periods to do research in the lab/library - You must have picked your famous person from the list and have it approved by Mme Crellin before starting your research. - You must use valid sources, as discussed in our session with Mme Musilli. Research Articles - You must have 3 research articles from a valid source. Each research article must be minimum 2 pages long and must include the source citation. ALL RESEARCH ARTICLES WITH CITATION HIGHLIGHTED MUST BE HANDED IN WHEN YOU PRESENT YOUR PROJECT. WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE FIRST RESEARCH ARTICLE. PRÉSENTATION - You will be using a computer to do your presentation. Powerpoint, Google Doc presentations, prezi, and Slide Rocket are all acceptable applications. - You will have 8 slides total. Each slide should clearly state the topic/question you are answering. - Each slide must include pictures of your person and their life applicable to the topic/question - There should be minimal writing on the presentation itself – I expect you to be able to tell us about your person (in French) not read to us about them. - Research articles and pictures must be cited on the last slide. - Put some life into your presentation - Make eye contact with your audience. Diapo 3 – Impact sur la société - What impact did his/her achievements have on their own society and the world at large? Was your famous person recognized for his/her achievements? Did he/she receive any awards? Diapos 4 – 6 – Choose 3 questions from the following list, answer each one on a separate slide. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. In what ways is his/her life remarkable? (worthy of attention) In what ways is his/her life despicable? (worthy of being hated) Is your famous person someone you would look up to? Why? (at least 2 reasons) Which personal quality or trait of your famous person proved most helpful for his/her success? Which personal quality or trait of your famous person proved most difficult for his/her success? Did your famous person make any major mistakes or bad decisions? If so, what were they and how would you have reacted if you would have been in his/her shoes? 7. What are the two or three most important lessons you or any young person might learn from the way your famous person lived his/her life? 8. An older person or mentor is often important in shaping the lives of gifted people by providing guidance and encouragement. Did your famous person have a mentor and how did that mentor shape him/her? Explain. 9. Many people act out of pressures from society or a set of beliefs which dictate their choices. To what extent did your famous person act according to a norm or act independently? Diapo 8 – Works cited ROLE OF THE AUDIENCE/LISTENERS - As an audience member you will be required to come up with 1 question for each presenter after he/she has finished his/her oral presentation. The question must be appropriate and must be on the famous person’s achievements or an important event in his/her life. A good question will start with the question word: “Why…?” Important Questions such as: “Does he have any siblings?” is not based on the person’s achievements and therefore is not an appropriate question. You will be graded on the appropriateness of your questions. YOU MUST BE QUIET, ATTENTIVE AND RESPECTFUL DURING EACH ORAL PRESENTATION. GRADING - This project is worth one test grade on 4th quarter. See attached rubric for more information DAILY Objectives (this will be worth a class participation grade): le 25 mai Choisissez votre personne le 30 mai Présentation par Mme Musilli le 31 mai Travaillez sur le projet.
