BBA Faculty Business Plan Contest 2012 Requirements Student groups are required to produce a full business plan for a new business idea or concept. Each group should be a maximum of 5 students from eligible universities. The outline plan should contain all fundamental details of the business including the following sections; Business plan outline 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Executive Summary: Write this last. It’s just a page or two of highlights. Company Description: brief description of company structure & objectives. Product or Service: Describe what you’re selling. Focus on customer benefits. Market Analysis: You need to know your market, customer needs, where they are, how to reach them, competition etc. Focus on the 7 C’s Strategy and Implementation: Be specific. Include management responsibilities with dates and budgets. Make sure you can track results. Web Plan Summary: For e-commerce, include discussion of website, development costs, operations, sales and marketing strategies. Management Team: Describe the organization and the key management team members. Financial Analysis: Make sure to include at the very least your projected Profit and Loss and Cash Flow Key Dates 1. 2. 3. 4. The business plan must be submitted before August 31st 2012. Judges will select the best 5 business plan for the final. Final presentation 5 teams will have a 10 minute presentation on 28 th September. The winning team will be announced after the completion of the final presentations. Entry 31st August – Final Judging 28th September – Winner & prize giving 28th September Judging Criteria The judges will be looking for a thorough business plan which considers all the key commercial areas. The plan should be realistic & achievable. It should be clear that the proposed company offers a product / service which has a real benefit for customers. Innovative or creative ideas will be awarded extra merit. The contest has three primary objectives: 1. To educate students in the process of creating and evaluating new business ventures. 2. To prepare students for opportunities in entrepreneurship sometime during their careers; 3. To harness the unique resources that UBU and its communities offer. Business Plan Workshop For groups which require advice or assistance in completeing the plan a workshop class will be offered by the BBA Faculty. The workshop will take place on Thursday mornings for 6 weeks & any student will be free to join.
