Career Portfolio Assignment You will be creating a career portfolio for use in your future endeavors and to help you plan your future. Below are all of the sections you will need to include. I have included a rubric for the assignment so you know how I will be marking you. Plan now to make it easier later! You will need a binder, duo-tang or something to organize all of your pages in. Sections included will be: 1.) 2.) 3.) 4.) 5.) 6.) 7.) Personal Information Resume Cover Letter Reference Letters/List Education (use PowerSchool to create a list of your current classes/marks) Interview Questions Post Secondary/Apprenticeship Programs You may hand in your portfolio in whatever form you would like but please ensure all parts are in this order so it is easier for the marker. Instructions for each section and marking scheme You will find all necessary documents in the web folders section. I will explain how to get there. You will have to save each document into your own file and work on it from there. 1.) Personal Information: there will be a list of questions in this section, answer each to the best of your ability using proper spelling and punctuation. This section is more of an inventory for yourself. 2) Resume: If you already have a resume you may bring it in but I recommend that you use the format I have provided to ensure you receive all necessary marks. 3) Cover Letter: In this section there is a sample cover letter. The purpose of a cover letter is to state your intentions. Follow the format of the cover letter and write your own. 4) Reference Letters/Lists: If you have reference letters feel free to bring them in. If not, make a list of names and phone numbers of people who would provide a good reference for you for a job. These should NOT be family members. If you ask sweetly enough, I may be able to help you out if you are at a loss for references. Try to think of people you have worked for or with who would say nice things about you. 5) Education: This is also laid out in a format for you. Feel free to change it. Here I would like you to make a list of your current classes this semester and your marks. This is more of a guide to keep you on track. If you need higher marks to get into a university, let this be your motivation! 6) Interview Questions: Here I have created a short list of questions commonly asked in an interview. Type your response. Be eloquent and use proper spelling and punctuation. 7.) Post Secondary/ Apprenticeship Programs: this section is not limited to just university or college. This could be any type of specialized training you might need to do what you want when you graduate high school. If you don’t know what you want to do you still need to fill this section in. Pick a job and figure out what you need. There is a rubric at the end of this package. LOOK AT IT!!!! See how you will be marked. YOU WILL NEED TO USE YOUR TIME WISELY. There are 7 sections. You have roughly 8 days to complete this. This is a very do-able task. You should be able to complete 1-2 sections per day.
