Calculating Pay from Yearly Salary (S3-A3:Beg-1)
Division: (÷) Dividing a big number into smaller parts.
16 ÷ 2 = Dividing 16 into 2 different groups = 8 and 8
16 ÷ 2 = 8

Division: (÷) Dividing a big number into smaller parts.

Teacher’s Note: Develop an activity in which students look at a number of
sequential paystubs and calculate year-to-date information from those, such
as gross pay, deductions, and net pay.

Teacher’s Note: Create word problems related to year-to-date gross and net
pay. Have students calculate year-to-date gross pay, deductions, and net pay
from these problems.

Complete the Paystub Activity (S3)
Teacher’s Note: Put student into groups of 3 or 4. Give each group a sample
of a weekly or bi-weekly paystub. Tell them that everything stays the same
on that paycheck week to week. Then have them calculate year-to-date
amounts for gross pay, each listed deduction, and net pay for the following
time increments:
