Date: April 15, 2013 Going Beyond Others Quality Manager Reports to: Director of Quality Job Summary Overall responsibility will to oversee the maintenance and the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) and the product quality through all inspections of incoming materials, finished goods, and work in process. Develop and implement a Quality organizational structure capable of supporting the strategic initiatives and oversee the integration of quality into the development of short and long range business plans. Authorities Operational decision-making to fulfill the goals and objectives of the organization and the Quality Department Enforce policies and procedures and address issues immediately Authorize PTO & labor edit changes Employ disciplinary action Manage department budget Manage the Internal Audit system for UMC Accountabilities Provides solid review of the quality management system, which provides the basis for sound business and technical decisions Establishes department policies, control processes and quality programs within overall direction set by senior management Provide quality leadership for any issues that may have impact on product quality Assist with new employee selection Provide ongoing staff development to achieve company goals and objectives Engage in performance management activities that support business objectives and prepares for succession leadership Responsible for adherence to customer quality specifications Development of a fully cross-functional team in the use of both gauging and automated inspection equipment Essential Functions The primary duties and responsibilities of the Quality Manager consist of but are not limited to: Coach employee performance by conducting performance reviews Analyze the efficiencies of the inspection department. Specifically, work load, manpower, and capital requirements to keep the department current and competitive Resource for resolving product quality issues from the production floor and customer returns Analysis of quality issues including scrap for continuous improvement Work with outside source inspectors as required May record quality measures and analyze performance using statistical process control methods Maintain the integrity of all automated inspection equipment and facilities Works closely with the Quality and Manufacturing Engineers to improve the quality of products and services Provide technical and analytical troubleshooting input regarding GD&T and metrology related matters Oversee and maintain a compliant Internal Quality Audit system per ISO/AS requirements; assuring compliance of the Quality Management System incorporated by UMC Manages the quality of incoming materials or components as well as finished goods, work in process, or services provided Qualifications Minimum Requirements – H.S. Diploma or equivalent Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline - preferred A minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing 2-3 years supervisory experience Understanding of best practices methods in inspection, calibration and automated inspection programming Advanced GD&T application Experienced in Measurement System Analysis Strong knowledge and experience with gauge calibration and equipment Competencies Problem Solving: Identifies and analyzes problems; distinguishes between relevant and irrelevant information to make logical decisions; provides solutions to individual and organizational problems Decisiveness: Able to make effective and timely decisions Experience managing a department budget Skilled using statistical application Ability to work on multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy Ability to manage an Internal Audit function across the organization Knowledge of various software applications such as Minitab and MS Office programs Use of formal Project Management techniques to execute projects effectively and efficiently Excellent communication skills both oral and written Ability to think tactical and strategically
