The Christmas season has
now ended and we enter
once again the “Ordinary
Time” of the Church’s year.
We begin it celebrating the
feast of The Baptism of
the Lord, which was the
beginning of his public
ministry.
Today we keep our tradition
of “Toy Sunday” and invite all
our children to bring along
some Christmas gift that they
are willing to give to children
in the care of our diocesan
Rescue Society. They can
bring them up at the Offertory
Procession at whatever Mass
they come to.
Coming

year’s material for the service
has been prepared by
Christians in India and so
there will be a distinct Indian
flavor to tonight’s service.

Women Speaking
Wisdom
The history of the Church has
been enriched by many
outstanding women whose lives
and writings we treasure. Women
like Catherine of Siena, Clare of
Assisi, Teresa of Avila and
Therese of Lisieux are some of
the more familiar names in a
long list.
If you wish to know more about
them and their wisdom, a series
of monthly sessions begins in
Saint Joseph’s Convent,
Greenleach Lane, led by Sister
Joan Curley, beginning Thursday
17 January at 7.30pm. Everyone
welcome. For more details,
contact Sister Joan or Maria
Kidd.

Many thanks ….
for your many cards and
gifts this Christmas. These
and all your other
kindnesses and good
wishes are much
appreciated.
***********************
Welcome to Edward
Mohanraj, (“Mohan”) whose
country of origin is Sri Lanka
and is now a student for the
diocese of Portsmouth
currently in Valladolid, Spain.
He will be with us for the
month of January and will be
involved in as many parish
activities as practical and
basically “shadowing” me. I
am sure you will give him a
warm welcome.
