Day 1 Day 2 TRS 92 Portfolio Assignment Rationale To help you to succeed in Intermediate Algebra you need to stay organized and keep your materials. One way to accomplish this is by keeping a working portfolio. You should use this portfolio to help you study for your tests, to do your homework, and to complete your writing requirements. The portfolio will be valued at 5% of your grade. Requirement You are to maintain a portfolio for this course. You need to use one three ring binder and three dividers. There should be four different sections – class notes/activities; written homework; tests with corrections & quizzes. Please put your dividers in this order and label them. o In Front of First Tab: o Portfolio rubric (on the back of this sheet) o Syllabus o Learning Grade Policy Letter o Foundational Skills Letter. o Class notes and activities: Each day you will take notes in class. You will also often have a printed activity sheet. These activity sheets go in this section. Your written notes should go in front of the activity sheet. You need to have these in chronological order so you can easily and quickly find notes from different days. o Written homework: In this section you will keep your written homework. All written work is to be organized in chronological order. Each section from the textbook work is to be started on a new sheet of paper and labeled with section, page number, and problems to be completed. Example: Ch. 1.2, page 91 #1-12 all, 13-25 odd. All problems (except word problems) are to be copied. Work is required for all problems! o Tests with Corrections & Quizzes: In this section you will keep your tests AND your required test corrections. Examples of proper test correction procedures will be provided at a later date. Remember that a grade of less than 70% requires a signature from an Algebra Alcove staff member on your corrections. Any written quizzes given during the semester should also be filed in this section. Put extra paper in the far back of the portfolio. Nothing in pockets or folders or files within the portfolio will be accessed. Your portfolio will be assessed for completion by your instructor at most two times during the term. Use the rubric provided to guide your portfolio creation.
