Good Day, Category Judges,
Just a few updates:

 Login as a judge
 The username & password is judge and password for all categories .
 Dropdown menu, select your category

the 49th Street side towards the back of Webb Center. Look for a small brick parking lot and come up
those steps that face 49th Street.

Previous Email sent out Late February—revised judge list
Good day, TSEF judges,
At the bottom of this document is a listing of judges with their assigned categories.
If you find something that needs to be corrected, please let me know.
About the Tidewater Science and Engineering Fair, 2014:


We had over 400 projects that applied with an acceptance of around 300.
We had a large increase in Environmental Science projects.
Categories
 You will hopefully find that you have been assigned one of your choices. (We certainly
appreciate those of you with flexibility!)
 We have not designated you as a Senior category judge or a Junior category judge. Your group
will decide the morning of Sat., March 15th as to who will judge which group.
 Some category groups are small and your group may decide to judge all the projects.
Head Judges
 For larger categories, we need a Senior Head Judge and a Junior Head Judge. For smaller
categories, we may have just one Head Judge.
 Some of you have served in this capacity before and we appreciate your expertise.
 Some of you will find that you have just been tapped as a head judge. I apologize for not having
the time to contact each of you beforehand, so I am hoping that you can serve in this position.
 We tried to select head judges with experience.
 Duties of a head judge include keeping the judges on task and organized, and giving results to
the central command station.
 You will also be asked to help make the top selections (overall winners) for either the Senior or
the Junior divisions.
 Some of the Senior Head Judges may also be asked to make a Special Award selection that
pertains to that specific category.
 All of this information will be included in your judges’ packet that you will receive Sat. morning.
What to expect
 Students are in the process of submitting an electronic copy of their abstracts, a short
description of their work and results.
 We hope to have these uploaded to the TSEF’s ODU website by the beginning of March.
 At the beginning of March we will be sending you information that will allow you to login at the
site and read the abstracts from your category.
Saturday, March 15th
 Parking will be limited. Signs should be posted to direct you where to park.
 Breakfast pastries and drinks will be provided.
 Meetings start at 7:30 with your groups released into the project areas around 7:45 for a quick
preview WITHOUT students.
 Students will be released into the project areas around 8:45 so that you can interact with them.
 Students will be removed from the project areas (judges only) from 11:30 to 12:30.
 Final decisions are due around noon to the Central Command Post.
 We will be offering you a boxed lunch starting around 11 am.
 The awards ceremony (you are invited to attend) will be from 2 to 4.
If you have special needs (ex. boxed lunch), please let me know ASAP.
We are getting excited!
