ANIMAL ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY (CRD: 4,0; HOURS: 48,00)
Aim of this Course, as specifically addressed to the students of Agricultural Science and Technologies,
is to provide the general concepts and knowledge of vertebrate biology with the focus on basic
structural features and physiological mechanisms of domestic animals’ tissues and organs
General and specific knowledge of anatomy and physiology, useful to establish comparisons and to
successfully complete studies concerning animal feeding as well as animal production.
Specific Areas of Study:
-Animal tissues (epithelial, connective, muscular and nervous tissues).
-Anatomy and Physiology of mammalian digestive system: oral cavity, stomach (monogastric and
ruminant stomachs), intestine, pancreas and liver.
-Anatomy and Physiology of mammalian female reproductive system. Pregnancy and lactation.
Biology of mammary gland and milk production.
-Anatomy and Physiology of mammalian male reproductive system.
-Anatomy and Physiology of mammalian musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory and excretory
systems.
-Avian Anatomy and Physiology (musculoskeletal, reproductive, digestive, circulatory, respiratory,
excretory systems).
-Fish Anatomy and Physiology (an outline).
2 - Procedure for submitting the application

two pages (see below) - attesting the teaching experience in the field of the matter/s mentioned in this

2 - Application deadline
The application deadline is: July 31, 2014.
3 - Requirements
The position requires both:
 university training in a relevant discipline;
 solid experience evidenced by publications.
4 - Obligations
The lecturer appointed by the University of Makeni has the following obligations:

Hold at the Faculty of Agriculture, at Makeni, during the semester foreseen, the lectures/practical
activities indicated in the Degree Syllabus for the course entrusted to him/her; the possibility that the
teachings are carried out in part or totally through computerized systems is not excluded;

Establish appropriate forms of contact with the students during the lecture period as well as for the
entire duration of the lectureship;

Hold examination sessions.
5 - Duration of the lectureship
The duration of the lectureship is one academic year, starting from the official assignment of the UniMAK
Academic Body, with the possibility of renewal. To each course four credits are assigned that are equivalent
to 48 hours of teaching activity distributed across an overall period of approximately 15 days.
6 - Selection procedure

The Scientific Committee, on the basis of the CVs gathered by the Director of Human Resources of the
University of Makeni, selects the lecturer informing the administrative offices of UniMAK about the
outcome in order for them to provide for the formalization of the assignment.
