Marketing 1 Course Summative Assessment – CCSD – 2012

This is an individual assignment, and you will utilize and showcase your skills and knowledge built from this
course and from your background knowledge. You will be evaluated on your written and verbal product. You
will have three class periods to work on your project, and you will turn in your final project and
make your presentation on __________ to your CEO. Read the performance indicators and the attached
rubric to establish your priorities, timelines, and strategies.
Standards Addressed:

Situation:
You are a marketing director for a retail establishment of (select a company or allow student to choose). Your
CEO has provided you the opportunity to create a promotional plan in order to increase sales for an existing
product.
As a savvy business person, you have recognized the opportunities for how you can meet your target market’s
needs by carefully considering the Marketing Mix (4 P’s).
Assignment:
1.
Review the responsibilities and establish your strategies to accomplish your goal.
2.
Developing your business plan. It will need to be a 2-3 APA formatted double spaced narrative
that will serve as the basis for your presentation. You will need to use the Four Ps of marketing in
your presentation (sales pitch).
3.
Present and defend your strategies to a local community business person. They will role play your
CEO.
During your presentation, you will:
1.
Describe the product/service, including any special features.
2.
Develop a strategy to increase sales.
3.
Describe the target market for the chosen product/service and explain why your product/service
would be beneficial to the target market.
4.
Create a logo and tagline for the product.
5.
Explain how your marketing strategies address the 4P’s: Product, Price, Promotion, and Place.
6.
Create a professional presentation, complete with visual aides, to present your information to the
CEO. You may choose to do a PowerPoint, display board, or another professional presentation
method of your choice.

You will be expected to produce a professional presentation. Make sure that all aspects of your presentation
are well coordinated and appeal to your target market. Your presentation will be no better than the weakest
of the four areas. In other words, it is to your advantage to make sure that every part of the presentation is
well thought out and professionally done.
