Denver East Speech and Debate Tournament
Travel Plans
November 7-8, 2014
We will be traveling by bus to Denver, Colorado to attend the Mile High Speech and Debate
Tournament hosted by Denver East High School and George Washington High School. This
year, the tournament will be held at the University of Denver campus, and will take place
November 7 and 8. We will leave Friday at 8:00am from Cheyenne East High School, and we
will return to East late Saturday night. This means that we will be staying overnight—at the
Wingate by Wyndham hotel in Denver on Friday night. All policies from the Activity Code will
apply to the entire trip.
You need to plan for the first meal out (lunch on Friday). You should either pack a lunch or bring
cash to buy something (there are some places to buy food around the hotel, but we are not certain
about what will be available around DU campus, as this is the first time this tournament has been
held there). We will provide the remainder of your meals.
Travel Itinerary (tentative):









Depart from Cheyenne East High School at 8:00am on Friday, November 7. Please meet
in room 209 at 7:45 to pack up and prepare for the bus trip.
Arrive at the Wingate Hotel around 10:00am. Check in, get dressed, and then depart.
Arrive at University of Denver Campus around 11:15am. Day 1 of tournament.
Depart from the campus around 6:00pm. Drive to dinner before going to the Hotel.
Arrive at Wingate Hotel around 7:30pm.
Depart from Wingate Hotel around 7:15am Saturday, November 8.
Arrive at the University of Denver Campus around 7:30am. Day 2 of tournament.
Depart from campus after awards ceremony; grab dinner (could be as late as 10 or 11).
Arrive at Cheyenne East High School 2-2.5 hours after leaving DU campus.
