Approved SBDM Minutes
September 16, 2015 – 4:00 p.m.
1. Opening Business
a. Call to Order – meeting called to order at 4:01 at North Pointe Elementary School.
b. Roll Call – members present Mike Shires, Nick Reed, Carrie Howell, Debbie Zegarra, Tiffany Hill, and Jamie
Hubbard. Guests present Bev Simon and Brenda Gruber recorded minutes.
c. Approval of Agenda – Nick Reed motioned to accept agenda and Tiffany Hill seconded. All members
agreed by consensus.
d. Approval of Minutes – Jamie Hubbard motioned to accept August minutes with a correction and Tiffany
Hill seconded. All members agreed by consensus.
e. Good News Report – The following Good News items were reported:
 A World Language Teacher is being proposed pending on funding from the District.
 The pumpkin patch is looking great. Students are really excited about it.
2. Public Speaking – Carrie Howell wants to encourage more use of technology in the classroom.
3. Information/Planning a. Benchmark Literacy update – Teachers are struggling to incorporate all the elements in their ELA time.
We are still waiting on training from the District.
b. Math fact fluency – Eureka Math –Students are enjoying flashcards we made with math facts
(multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction). They are on the tables in the cafeteria.
4. Budget - Council reviewed both budgets: SBDM and School Activity Funds
 SBDM funds and carry-over protocol. Mr. Shires informed the SBDM committee that all but 10% of your
budget must be spent every year.
5. Other Business –
a. Release of KPREP data – Mr. Shires has the data and it will be released on October 1st.
b. PTA Boosterthon Fun Run – It is going on right now and this should really benefit our PTA.
6. Closed Session
a. Review of Safety Plan –At 4:52 SBDM council went into closed session. At 5:02 council reconvened.
Debbie Zegarra motioned to approve the Safety Plan and Nick Reed seconded.
7. Adjournment – Motion to adjourn by Jamie Hubbard and seconded by Nick Reed. Meeting adjourned at
5:04pm.
