Cell Analogy Project Objective: Your job is to create an analogy that relates to a eukaryote cell. Your final product will be a drawing and short description about something that has similarities to a cell’s structure. Definition of Analogy: a similarity between things that are otherwise unlike. For example the motor in a car is analogous to a power plant, since both are used to produce power. Synonyms: resemblance, similarity, comparison, and metaphor. Topics: Every group needs to have their own analogy. No two analogies can be the same. To start, your topic needs to be complex. Second, it is easier if it is a thing. Example topics: castle, mall, Hogwarts, Bikini Bottom, school, NYC, concert hall, car, football stadium, cruise ship, hospital, USA, restaurant, etc. I will show you an example of a factory so that topic is off limits. Parts to Include: Cell Membrane Cell Wall Nucleus Ribosomes Mitochondria Chloroplast Enoplasmic Reticulum Golgi Apparatus Lysosomes Vacuole Any other cells parts you want Expectations: See the grading rubric for more details. Below is a summary of the parts to be completed. You diagram must include labels (with the analogy structure and the corresponding cell part). You must include a summary paragraph on the back explaining why your topic is similar to a cell. This must be at least 5 sentences. You must complete the chart included with this handout Be prepared to share your analogy with the class.
