Basic Plot of “Hamlet”
• The Ghost of Hamlet’s father returns and tells
his son Hamlet, a studying student, he wants
vengeance for his murder committed by his
brother Claudius, the current king and
husband of the widowed Queen Gertrude.
Hamlet contemplates the logic and reality of
the situation, is it true? Is the ghost real?
Although dealing with his mourning and
anger towards his mother, Gertrude, and love
interest, Ophelia, Hamlet sets his plan in
motion to find out the truth and satisfy the
ghost’s wishes.
