
Progression – Students will be required
to log onto my school web page to
complete two assignments, one skill
builder from the “Progressive
Worksheets.” When they finish, they are
to ask the teacher for the teacher
handbook to check their answers and
send the teacher a clarifying question if
they do not understand why they did not
get questions in their exercise correct.


Reflection – Students will write a three
paragraph reflective writing piece that addresses
how the year has gone for them so far in
English 8: what did they think of the novel? Are
there things that were taught that they still are
not sure they know well yet? What do they like
least about English 8 and what do they like most
about English 8? What would they like individual
assistance with learning in the poetry unit?

Inquiry/Research – The curriculum requires that
students be given the opportunity to investigate, through
non-fiction literature, details specific to the information
presented in the unit. This novel unit was set in the 1960s in
a world of adolescent drug and alcohol abuse, poverty,
gangs, racism, and hippies. Investigate further on your own
during this period. Possible topics :LSD history and sideeffects, the hippie movement, The Black Panthers, or do the
