Declare your major through MyCharleston account
(Program of Study management system).

Respond to automated email directing you to schedule
a meeting with the Coordinator for Student Services.
•
Arrive for meeting prepared and ready to learn more
about the program.
•
Meet with assigned academic advisor(s).

Pass all three PRAXIS I tests

paper/pencil method or by a
computerized method
Testing
dates,
locations,
and
registration information may be found
on the Educational Testing Service’s
website (www.ets.org).
Computerized testing offered locally
through Prometric Testing Service
(843.766.5599 or 800.853.6773).
Passing test scores: reading = 175;
writing = 173; and math = 172
Official scores MUST be sent to the
College of Charleston (code R5113)
and the SC Department of Education
(code R8108).
OR
Have qualifying SAT/ACT Scores
•
SAT score of 1650 or higher
•
ACT score of 24 or higher
Make sure all scores are sent to the College of Charleston.

 Establish and maintain required GPAs

Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Education GPA of 3.0 or higher
Secondary Education must maintain the required GPA in the
content area of study
 Complete program specified minimum number of general
education requirements

 Complete EDFS 201 (Foundations of Education) with a grade
of “C” or above
Students who wish to transfer in 201 course credit must meet with Dr.

 Your EDFS 201 instructor
