Time Management Assignment
November 11 th
, 2013
After tracking my life and priorities over the last seven days I have come to the conclusion that my sleeping, eating, exercising and all of my other life habits are not consistent. They aren’t consistent and lack balance for a few different reasons this is because I have a very busy schedule. I find with being in school full time, working two jobs, and trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle tends to drain my energy quickly and take up most of my spare time. I feel like if my schedule remains the same it will cause my marks to suffer, my stress levels to rise, lack of sleep, and a feeling of unhappiness, which in the end can also lead to anxiety. Some changes that I could make to better improve my schedule would be waking up at roughly the same time every day and no sleeping in, setting time aside for homework and studying, taking the time to prepare meals in advance, and having a set time for going to the gym.
One of my weaknesses would be procrastinating, I always put things off to the last minute; for example on my timesheet for November 7 th I slept in until 1:30 which resulted in wasting my whole morning instead of waking up and working on an assignment that was due the next day. Procrastination can cause stress which can also lead to health problems and anxiety. To reduce my procrastination habits I could use the I could use the Moehill theory which works by putting about 15 minutes aside a day to focus on various tasks like homework, cleaning, exercising or any other task that needs to
be done resulting in success and less stress. By allowing myself to sleep in, text a lot, and spend a lot of time at the gym this allows me to continue to procrastinate.
My current strengths toward time management are that I’m always on time for important times like work, class, or appointments and no matter what I will stay up all night to get both personal and school work done. My weaknesses would defiantly procrastinating and leaving things till the last minute, which causes me to become stressed, which can sometimes interrupt with my personal life. I feel like this isn’t helping with me being successful in college because I usually have to rush to get my assignments done on time and I also leave little time aside to study which cause my grades to suffer while writing tests.
I hope that by doing this assignment and realizing my problems and where and how I can improve them will better my life in various ways. Not only will it help with schoolwork, getting the right amount of sleep, planning tasks more carefully and overall it will ultimately help me with my biggest issue which is stress. I hopefully will learn procrastinate less so I can get on the right track so I can be successful in both my professional and personal life.
