SC - received apologies from Teresa Pipe of the South West Veterans Mental Health Service. Is looking forward to being able to address the Network at a future meeting. Apologies from: Hazel Roberts, Rosalind Ramage, Kathy Parker, Sue Hall, Vicky Shipway, Esther Gregory , Donna Ryall, Annabel King, Larissa Milden, Andrew Eascott, Jackie Britzman, Christine Barrett, Len Russell, Sarah Dangar, Jacki Williams, Karen Sharpe None IM (The Zone) - Accepting young people for the service before 23rd birthday; have 20 days during February and March for referrals; two more therapies in place; Plymouth now has a Young Person and Adult DBT service. CA (Reader Organisation) - service has 6 groups operating in libraries as well as a new memory group. A volunteer day is set for March; a group member is currently a member of the PMHN Learning Sets group which is looking at improving mental health in Plymouth. VB (Wolseley Trust/Health & Wellbeing Board) - Healthy Futures project has received funding for a further year adn is exploring new opportunities; Currenty work with 6 GP surgeries (Ernesettle, Trelawny, St Neots, St Levans, Cumberland Centre and Mt Gould and keen to extend to other surgeries. LR (Crossroads) - running a series of sporting leading up to and during the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Working in partnership with Active for Life, Wolseley Trust, PCH Livewell team and the Marine Academy, these events will be known as the GloRIOus Games. Planned events so far - 15 May Silver Event; the date for the Gold Event has yet to be confirmed but will take place during the actual Rio Olympics. ND (Sports Development Unit, PCC) - Money from Sport England; 3 year project for activities in deprived neighbourhoods, utilising available community venues; now have an activity calendar. CE (Healthwatch/PIPS) - PIPS is exploring new work streams; holding drop-ins; have now become active on social media; working on the Healthwatch Young Person's mental health project; working on a project looking at autism in the city. - want to get an idea of what is available for young people within the city. Discussion around ideas for consulting with young people. IW mentioned the voting booth at The Zone. Plymouth Mental Health Network Notes of Meeting held on 29 January 2015 CK (PCH Livewell) - training programme for coming year has been finalised; offering Armed Forces and Youth MHFA; hoping to coordinate an arts festival for the month of October - invitations open to any organisations to be part of the event. VC (Plymouth Racial Equality Council) - provides 1-1 sessions; make referrals to Plymouth Options; run a women's group. DB (Plymouth Libraries) - the launch of Jump into January went well, as did all of the programmed events; at the Dementia Conference on 6th February. KB (Plymouth University) - Will be looking at a piece of work 'what participation means in mental health' and people with poor mental health staying in work. Working with Richard Byng from March. VW (Health & Wellbeing Board) - currently mentoring the chair of a local project in Whitleigh; tutoring on the Health & Social Course at University of St Mark & St John; discussing ways of how to influence Health & Wellbeing Board to be more community orientated. At meeting of 19th February trying to get discussion on wellbeing. PB (Advice Plymouth) - mental health volunteer worker with Christine Barrett (CB), mental health support worker at Advice Plymouth; accompany CB on visits to organisations such as Crossroads. LW (CCG New Devon) - £400million overspend, NHS England now attend all financial meetings of the CCG; £30million for ED Services for young people; MH Strategy is on the website and key priorities remain; investment is out of existing money. Work needs to be done with the police to enable them to better understand the needs of those experiencing mental health distress. FM (Focus Oralhealth) - 2nd Healthwatch Grant for project to assist those in need of special care dental services; working with Admiral House; promoting Eating Disorder Awareness week through the dental team; attending Dementia Conference. JG (National Autistic Society) - offer support through the community care and support plan; library drop-in sessions proved very successful; other sessions planned for Truro, Ivybridge and Kingsbridge; host Family Information Days where offer information around the assessment part of the Community Care Act; next family day is April 23rd at Woolwell Community Centre. JF (Pregnancy Crisis Care) - organisation's work concerned around pregnancy related crisis; postabortion work; counselling is free and open-ended. AE (Harbour Centre) - management structure has experienced a change; currently a review/overhaul of how to deliver existing services. RH (Plymouth Advice) - also mental health volunteer worker with Christine Barrett (CB), mental health support worker at Advice Plymouth; doing dissertation on mental health and employment. PL (Age UK) - work with people over 50; many referrals involve people living with mental health issues; signpost where appropriate. CH (Plymouth Guild) - Advice Plymouth are seeing a huge amount of attendees with mental health issues; Avenues project has funding has been extended until September, but a proposed special review DRoche 17/02/15 Plymouth Mental Health Network Notes of Meeting held on 29 January 2015 4. The Carers Hub, the mental health carers drop-in support group is active. OC (Mind) - Recovery College attendances now around 70 per month; application for the Blue Light project which is concerned with building resilience for blue light staff; Eating Disorder Awareness month; Richard Wakerell has developed a Building Resilience seminar; setting up a choir; a workshop for a new play by Katherine Melmore, 'Spell Me Slowly' on 14/02/15. Looking at work within schools; joint bid with PIPS for Peer Support work. NP (IMHCN) - supports work of PMHN; John Jenkins, Chief Executive in Sweden discussing setting up a group similar in nature to PMHN; IMHCN recently relocated base to the UK; revising website and membership criteria to allow individual membership. benefits of membership include access to extensive online library. DT (PIPS) - 2 pieces of work ongoing - Advance Statement of Wishes and Carers. Monthly mental health carers group involving PIPS, the Guild and Helen Fellows of Timebank, is going really well. Currently exploring having a mental health professional attend the meetings. PIPS' contract has been funded for another year. SC reported that the programme for the next conference is almost finalised. John Jenkins of the International Mental Health Collaboration Network (IMHCN) has agreed to lead the day. The morning session will be hearing from keynote speakers from Wales and Hertfordshire about their experiences towards implementing a recovery focussed service, update on the progress of the workstreams from the strategy, including from a group member from the Reader Organisation After lunch there will be a piece of theatre. The afternoon session will be interactive with a focus on the next steps, etc. This year the venue is the Copthorne Hotel on 11th March. The fees are £60 rate for organisations, £15 for carers/service users and £20 promotion stall. SC provided update. been exploring what 'Whole Life Whole Systems' is and how it fits with recovery; some areas of good practice have been identified in Plymouth, particularly on Greenfields Unit; looked at what is not working so well and the barriers to change; creating action points and how to progress the work. There will be another series of Learning Sets - one exploring the Voluntary and Charity Sector and one around Community Mental Health teams with the aim of bringing the two together. SC - no SQIP meeting since last meeting.
