Purpose of Job:
To lead on the marketing, operational and financial management of British Council Services for
International Education Marketing in Egypt. To do this through the delivery of client funded activities
with the aim of:
- positioning the UK as a leader in international education
- contributing to the growth of UK education both in the UK and Egypt
- building strategic partnerships between UK and Egyptian HE institutions
- working with English and Exams colleagues to ensure maximum synergy and cross selling of
our work
Context and Environment:
As the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities,
the British Council works with various public and private organisations across the world to build
mutually beneficial relationships. The Education UK department has traditionally been responsible for
fostering links between UK and local education institutions. However, as of April 2012, it was replaced
by the Services for International Education Marketing (SIEM) department which provides the following
seven core services to UK and local educational institutions: in-depth research of the local education
sector, face-to-face information sessions, educational consultancy, direct marketing, trans-national
education opportunities and exhibition organisation.
As part of a team of four, the post holder will report to BC Egypt’s Head of Marketing and Sales.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Project management and delivery of the six core British Council Services for International Education
Marketing services offered in Egypt
 in-depth research of the Egyptian education sector for UK clients
 face-to-face information sessions for Egyptian students considering studying overseas

Educational consultancy for UK and Egyptian clients
Direct marketing on behalf of UK institutions
Identifying and brokering trans-national education opportunities
Organising Education UK and UK qualifications exhibitions and attendance at other exhibitions
relevant to the market.
2. Delivery of agreed targets
 Meeting agreed financial and non-financial business targets for the country and supporting
British Council Egypt’s country targets
 Ensuring compliance with corporate finance and HR standards
 Securing all key performance indicators as agreed each year
3. External Client Management
 Manage and sustain existing relationships with UK and local government and education
institutions
 Develop close working partnerships with local government and private institutions with the aim of
increasing the department’s partnerships
 Develop strong client management skills to transition any existing clients from the Education UK
model to the Services for International Education Marketing model
 Obtain positive feedback from clients on delivery of agreed services
4. Internal Client Management
 English and Exams business development colleagues
 Education and Society colleagues
 Develop close working partnerships with the regional Business Development Manager and UKbased account managers
 Manage and sustain relationships with the regional Services for International Education
Marketing team, regional Marketing team and local Teaching Centre, Exams and Projects teams
 Obtain positive feedback from internal clients on delivery of agreed services

To contribute to the development of an efficient, integrated and motivated Marketing & Sales
team, which champions British Council values, meets all Performance Management and
Professional Development standards and works effectively with colleagues across all activity
streams
To line manage and support professional development according to standards of Performance

colleagues
To participate proactively in the corporate Performance Management and Professional
Development system and keep professionally updated in related areas.
To provide cover and support for Marketing & sales colleagues, including deputising for Head
Marketing & Sales, in order to ensure the team operates flexibly and efficiently.
