This is a super-fun workshop for attendees of all ages wanting to learn about small and large group games and activities that are completely outside. It is proven that both adults and children are not outside as much as they need to be. Come and learn about the endless fun things kids can do in sun, rain and snow throughout the year. Typical sunny day games and activities can easily be modified for outside but it depends on your creativity and willingness to get yourself outside. Participants will also learn a number of new activities and experiential games for groups of all ages and sizes. Jeff Willis, C.Y.W Founder/Principal of Creative Toolbox has spent the last 18 years working with communities,Canadian overnight camps, afterschool programs, public schools, community programs and outdoor educational centers across Canada, Germany and Japan. His passion to develop Creative Toolbox stemmed from his experiences of traveling abroad, working as a Child and Youth Worker and his leadership with outdoor recreation. Jeff believes we need to challenge ourselves to discover our potential within in order to continue to inspire the future. 1 B: Communication – The Lost Art Form This interactive workshop of sound, movement and acting, reviews the most important preventative tool, communication. Participants will discuss the words we choose to use, how we say those words, and the messages our bodies present. Technology has removed some of the face to face interactions and weakened our abilities to read social cues. We will look at how information may be processed at different levels of escalation, including our own interpretations. Many times, assumptions are made during the communication process and this can lead to increased conflicts and confusion. Effective communication is key to the development of positive relationships and understanding at work, home, and with yourself. Realizing one's position in one's life path at an instantaneous point in time is the first step in the leadership journey. This will allow us to fully utilize our strengths and identify areas of selfimprovement. Knowing ourselves helps us know each other. This session focuses on the skills necessary to achieve this realization. Tasha Moodley is founder of the fresh and dynamic coaching and consulting company; Action Potential. People are subject to learn from different types of teachers, environments and experiences. Their success depends on their ability to adapt, engage and their willingness to learn from their presenter/teacher/facilitator. Understanding the necessary and effective tools of facilitating is imperative, especially in understanding how people can and/or want to learn from you. Attendees come to this workshop as a learner and leave with the tools to be a better facilitator/teacher. Ninja Learning Goals: • Setting a positive climate for learning • Collaborative communication techniques • Clarifying the purposes of the learner(s) • Organizing and making available learning resources • Balancing intellectual and emotional components of learning • Sharing feelings and thoughts with learners but not dominating According to Carl Rogers, learning is facilitated when: “The student participates completely in the learning process and has control over its nature and direction; it is primarily based upon direct confrontation with practical, social, personal or research problems; and, self-evaluation is the principal method of assessing progress or success.” 2 B Remembering to Play – Inspiring Creativity, Engagement & Self Care –Full Day Track with Vince Gowman Remembering to Play is about remembering the wisdom of a child’s mindset and the importance of levity and joyful authentic expression as cornerstones for healthy and productive living.
