Pamphlets, Cable network, Banners and through admission committee.

It contains all the information regarding different courses available in college or other co-curricular activities. It also covers detail about participation in sports, NSS, Women Cell and different study centers and add-on courses in the institution.

The Criteria and process adopted for admission is based on university guidelines.

College invites applications for admission in Arts and Commerce faculties.

For Arts students minimum merit = 45%

For Commerce only = 50% college in the rural area. Our mission is to cater to the need of the weaker section and to uplift them through education.

The admission Committee provides counseling for the choice of subjects keeping in view the career of students, students can change their subjects within two weeks. Capability of the students is kept under consideration while offering them add-on-course. Application forms are invited by college at the end of June and admissions are carried out from Ist

July.

There is a semester system in U.G. classes. Regular class tests are taken by each lecturer in their respective subjects. Atleast before one month of final exams PTM is organized. The performance of each student is shown to their parents. The required improvement is done after the PTM.

Faculty member of the college helps time to time to those students who need extra

care and attention by giving extra lectures to them. Frequent interaction with the

parents of such students are a regular feature of the college. Classes’ tests,

assignments, attendance are also checked time to time.PTM is also held at least

one month before commencement of every semester. Discussions with faculty

members for the problems of weak students with their parents are possible through

PTM.

2.3 Teaching-Learning Process

2.3.1 How does the college plan and organise the teaching, learning and

evaluation schedules? (Academic calendar, teaching plan, evaluation

The basic academic schedule is provided by the university at the beginning of

each session. Now the session is divided into two semester courses. The

College prepares academic calendar department wise. Syllabus is also divided

into concerned lecturers

Meetings are conducted with the head of department and concerned teachers

keeping in view of all the courses.

Evaluation is conducted by the college as per university norms. There are two

internal exams in every semester. After evaluation of internal exams, marks

of assignment and attendance are submitted. It is essential for each student to appear

in these internal exams.

There is internal assessment of 20 marks as follows:

Attendance =5 marks

Two class tests=10 marks

Assignments =5 marks

2.3.2 How does IQAC contribute to improve the teaching –learning process?

Yes, with IQAC in our college we get interactive board, projectors & all new methods of teaching that improves the interest of the students.

among the students?

Our institution encourages its staff members to attend orientation and

refresher courses conducted by the UGC, University and the department of

Higher Education from time to time so that they can upgrade their soft skills

and professional skills. Besides this interactive board Computers, smart

board, library facilities, interaction between students and teachers make

teaching learning an interesting process.

2.3.4 How does the institution nurture critical thinking, creativity and

scientific temper among the students to transform them into life-long

learners and innovators?

For nurturing critical thinking the students are encouraged and motivated to

participate in group discussion, debates, declamation and quiz programmes

which are conducted regularly in the college. Students give presentation in

the class to enhance their scientific temper.

Projectors and interactive board’s facilities are used by the faculty for

effective teaching.

The faculty members upgrade their knowledge and skills through various

National or international seminars, refresher courses, orientation programmes,

workshops, and conferences. They also make best use of library books and

Journals. The students can also consult library books, attend seminars,

extension lectures and different training workshops that are organized by the

faculty time to time.

personal and psycho-social support and guidance services (professional

counseling/mentoring/academic advice) provided to students?

Professional counseling for academic advice is rendered by different

Counseling cells such as sexual harassment cell, women cell.

Teachers also give time to time their physiological, social and academic

guidance to the students.

Various kind of coaching classes are organized by career counseling cell and

entry in services cell. These coaching classes are especially for SC/ BC

students but general category students are also benefited. The students not

only get coaching but also provided study material to prepare them for

competition exams e.g. jobs in railways, in banks. Two one day camp and one seven days camp is organized through N.S.S. Atleast 50 students are benefited through the N.S.S. activities done during camp.

2.3.8 Provide details of innovative teaching approaches/methods adopted by

the faculty during the last four years? What are the efforts made by the

institution to encourage the faulty to adopt new and innovative

approaches and the impact of such innovative practices on student

learning?

Innovative teaching approaches adopted by the faculty in the last four years

are interactive teachings with more discussions. There are power points

presentation in the class rooms. Being rural area students are much excited

using interactive board for their studies. CD’s for different courses and

subjects are shown to students. Students are encouraged to read books on

current affairs, R-Journals, magazines, newspapers. Rural and financially weaker section student use the internet in the computer lab and enhance their knowledge.

There are group discussions between students so that they can learn and explain to each other.

process?

Library plays a significant role in helping students and teachers to gain knowledge and information that is needed in the process of learning and teaching.

Yes, the evaluation of teachers by the students is done through feedback form. The evaluation helps in improving the quality of teaching learning, as observations of students are given top priority. The suggestions of the students are welcomed because together we make teaching learning process a challenge. Time and again the faculty makes optimum usages of IT-Multimedia, Smart Boards etc.

Curriculum of add on courses is framed by the institution. Courses like fitness and

Self Defence and Art of cooking are some of the issues that the institution gives due importance.

The institution ensure that the stakeholders especially students and faculty are aware of the evaluation process through college prospectus, notice board etc. and it is also communicated orally time and again.

An evaluation reform of the university is to introduce internal assessment system of 20 marks. This system was introduced by K.U.K in 2010-11 in phased manner.

On college level regular class tests, group discussions help the students to build confidence in them.

Institution ensure effective implementations of the evaluation reforms of the university and those initiated on its own by conducting according to K.U.K norms.

Time span for exam is fixed and discipline is maintained.

The formative and summative approaches are adopted for the all round development. Various cells, courses and centre’s help in grooming the personality of a student. Assignments are included in evaluation method which helps them to know the subject better and they become confident. In order to check the accountability of students participation attendance during function is taken. Parent teacher meetings are also very useful to solve the problems of the students.

In order to measure students achievements the formative and summative approaches are adopted for the all round development. To draw the best out of a student, various cells and units help and grooming the personality of a student.

Initially, it was only test and attendance but now, assignments are included which helps them know the subject better and they become confident. The add-on courses help student to flourish in his desired field of interest. For example to check the accountability of students, participation, attendance during functions is taken. If students have some problem, it is resolved by calling their parents.

On the basis of weekly/monthly test result, the performance of the students is communicated to their parents. A PTM is held before a month of the commencement of final exams of each semester. Regular class tests are taken to judge their academic performance. Journals and magazines are given to students to prepare their assignments.

We encourage students by awarding them for their good behavior, independent learning communication skills on different functions. Best behaved and academically meritorious students are awarded time to time. For the overall developments of students we follow the guidelines and norms laid by K.U.K. Best

N.S.S. volunteers and best student of the year are awarded.

Yes, teachers use assessment and evaluation as an indicator for evaluation of student’s performance. Besides evaluations, academic performance, being rural section of society we face many other problems such as conservative parents, early marriage, studying in pregnancy, household chores. These problems are improved only by motivation and personalized attention to the students

Yes, there is a mechanism for redressal of grievances with reference to evaluation.

If a student is not satisfied with the evaluation, she may clarify with the concerned teacher and if her problem is not redressed, she then approaches the principal to clarify her problem. At university level, the students can get their answer booklets re-evaluated if not satisfied.

To achieve excellence in learning, the college has a policy of fee concession to meritorious student. We also have book facilities for needy and meritorious students.

The teaching, learning and assessment strategies of the institution are well structured. We abide by the academic calendar of the university. Syllabus is timely completed and audio-visual aids are used for enhanced comprehension. Journals and magazines are given to students to prepare assignments, extempore talks,

Group discussions etc. Regular class tests are taken to test their comprehension and understanding.

To enhance social economic relevance, many different courses are offered to the students. Workshop for motivation and the social and economic relevance is enhanced by running Add-on course which are catering to the various field of

interest of the students. All the courses have quality jobs. Students have got jobs in the college by their ability in Add-on course.

The institution collects the data from the results of class tests, assignments and final results and analyzes the data on students learning outcome by planning more practical approach, adopting better teaching methods and providing better books.

The institution monitors and ensures the achievements of learning outcomes by conducting examinations regularly. Attendance of the students is strictly taken care of. The various cells, clubs, units, etc of the college function effectively for the all round development of the students. Results are highlighted in prospectus, newsletter, magazines etc.

Graduate attributes specified by university is passing out examination with minimum 35 % each subject. College inculcates Vedic values in their students.

Gurudwara Sahib Sangrandh is celebrated in a month in the college. Morning

Assembly is a regular feature of the college. Barsi of Sant Mohan Singh Babaji is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm.
