This user evaluation was conducted by a player who was apart of a scoring game of
2 teams of two.
1. How fun was the game? Why was it fun?
It was more ‘funny’ than fun! Some of the objects chosen were completely ridiculous (ie. a shoe) so it was enjoyable listening to the various descriptions such as ‘a material you could use as a rope’ for a description of the lace. It was also fun as I was playing with a group of friends who are all very competitive, so some levels of objects were quite challenging and random! I believe it was more fun to be the person guessing what the object is, as it involves attempting to put you into the ‘describers’ mindset.
2. Was the game somewhat original? If so, how was it original?
Yes I believe it was original as it was different to the typical board games I usually play with my friends. It was more creative and enjoyable than sitting down and playing a game of chess!
3. Did the game build any skills? If so, what skills did it build and how does it build them?
Yes it definitely helped enhance my persistence skills, as I needed to provide clear descriptions of what the object was, and if my partner could not see what I was getting at I needed to try and take a different approach.
4. How did this game challenge you?
It was challenging trying to remain open-minded and focus on the descriptions my partner was saying. It was also challenging as the addition of the timer increased the competitiveness and made it necessary to think more quickly in order to guess correctly.
5. Do you think that this game makes use of non-visual senses? If so, how did they make use of those senses?
Yes it involved feeling the objects and listening to the describer, which are both non-visual senses.
6. Does the game deal with any professional dilemmas? That is, does it deal with any issues in the workplace, such as communication, compromise, collaboration and teamwork? If so, how does the game relate to these issues?
Teamwork was fundamental as it was 2 against 2 so it was important that we were in sync with our partners in each round in order to win. Communication and collaboration was also needed.
7. How can this game be more fun?
I thought the fun factor was spot on; it was the perfect mix of competition and enjoyment!
8. How can this game be more challenging?
By decreasing the time allowed, as it would add more pressure. The difficulty of objects chosen also effect how challenging it is.
9. Can any other skills be built by this game? If so, what skills are they and how can these skills be built?
Quick-thinking skills and persistence!
10. Can this game relate to any other professional dilemmas? If so, how?
Trust, as you trust the description your partner is saying.
11. Are there any other improvements that can be made? If so, what are they?
More of an agreed upon list of things you can and can not say when describing the objects, as these became hard to judge at times…the fine line between describing it and giving it away.
12. Overall, what do you think of this game?
I thought it was great! Different than the normal games you play.
