FRESHMAN SCHEDULING INSTRUCTIONS 2016-2017
1. Everyone will sign up for Guided Study unless in Band, Choir and/or Orchestra. Guided Study can be an elective for students taking music.
2. Student must sign up for Health. Taking Phys. Ed. class during the school year is strongly recommended.
 Summer School Option:
- If student takes summer Health, schedule will be changed when school begins in August.
- NOTE: separate application form & fee are required for summer courses
- Fees - $100.00 for Health
- See Middle School Counselor for application
 Alternative PE Credit though Extracurricular Participation
- Students must participate in two approved high school sport seasons or two seasons of Marching Band
- For details, see the Course Description Book
3. If a student wants to take more than 1 class in the Music Department then summer Health or Alt. PE are strongly recommended.
4. Schedules signed by parents must be returned to your Middle School Counselor by FEBRUARY 19th, 2016.
5. If a student wants to take Advanced Math 9 or Spanish 1, the teacher recommendation blank must be signed by the appropriate middle school teacher.
6. 7 period day
- Number each choice on your schedule card
- 1 – 5 are core classes (Physical Education and Health are 1 semester each and take up 1 period)
- 6 is Music department OR Guided Study
o Students may select more than 1 music selection as part of their electives
o Remember that 1 credit of fine art is required for graduation and there are a variety of options to fulfill that credit requirement.
- 7 – 12 are elective classes – number in order of preference (we ask students to choose extra classes in case of scheduling conflicts)
o Students who select Band, Choir or Orchestra may also have a Guided Study as a choice in their selection for 7 – 12
