Mission 1:
Clearwater Mountains
Planet Oden, 14:25 SCT, 11.20.2504
ARTANIS
En Taro Tassadar warriors. You were the closest task force to this planet, so I thank you for undertaking this endeavor.
ARTANIS
Several days ago our sensors detected a sizeable khaydarin crystal vein within these mountains such as never seen before.
ARTANIS
We need access to this site to fund our next generation of war machines. A mining force was sent here but we have not received communications in exchange.
ARTANIS
Your objectives are to ascertain the fate of the mining crew, and take control of the crystal bed. Principality Meliak has command as per standard protocol.
TELIOS
According to the report, the mining crew directed west from here. Our records indicate that there is a terran settlement in this region.
MELIAK
I have been on many missions such as these. After this long, it is likely they are dead.
LAZADIN
Then why have we been sent to this frigid wasteland? I wish we could have remained at our last posting.
TELIOS
Though we attempt an irksome task, remember that there is no virtue in that which is not a difficult achievement.
TELIOS
These protoss...I sense that they are khala adherents.
MELIAK
None of which beget my familiarity. Fanatics then.
LAZADIN
I look forward to testing them in battle. Perhaps they will prove to be more formidable combatants than the Tal'Darim.
TELIOS
Such is surely likely. But we should attempt to reach a more peaceable conclusion with these protoss.
---
MELIAK
There are zerg upon this planet. What is happening here?
---
VORANOR
Halt! I am Voranor, a Prefect of the An'Aleem. Identify yourselves.
MELIAK
I am Principality Meliak, of the 19th Protoss Auxilia.
MELIAK
We are here under the orders of Artanis to claim the khaydarin crystal bed for the Heirarchy. We also seek a lost mining band.
VORANOR
Such are not to be found here. This place holds nothing of value to you.
LAZADIN
Then let us pass, and we shall leave in peace.
VORANOR
This is your last warning. Depart!
LAZADIN
Step out of our way fanatic, before I end you!
VORANOR
Typical. Your type thinks they own the universe. Tell Artanis that Oden...is off limits.
---
VORANOR
This is not over!
---
TELIOS
Zerg allied with protoss! By Adun, this is a sign of ill foreboding. Why have they done this?
MELIAK
When have sapient races ever allied themselves with zerg when not for the purposes of power and subjection?
LAZADIN
Something is amiss here. We are not equipped to handle whatever type of madness has gripped this place. We should warn the Hierarchy at once!
---
Battle scene:
FROSTBAT
The Iceman cometh!
TELIOS
Identify yourselves, terrans.
PARKER
The name's Parker. Me and my boys were just scouting out the area. We saw you laying into this protoss base, and thought you could use a little help.
MELIAK
What do you know human? Why are the zerg here?
PARKER
They're with the fanatics. Our city was attacked by these zerg when the protoss came here for the crystals, and we're looking for a little bit of karmic justice.
LAZADIN
These fanatics must be using the khaydarin crystals to control the zerg.
TELIOS
You have our gratitude for the collaboration. We too seek retribution. Join us, and we shall see that your brethren are avenged.
PARKER
Avenging our brethren is what we do best.
MELIAK
You claim that you were attacked?
PARKER
That we were. The locals here never enjoyed living under the fist of the Kel-Morian Combine, but Prospector Logan promised to drive out these fanatics.
---
TELIOS
Tell us about your commander, the one you call Logan.
PARKER
Well, he's a wealthy Kel-Morian prospector. Got rich real quick after hitting the jackpot on Rodrick V's Moon.
PARKER
He prefers to hire mercenaries such as ourselves. Has a good reputation for being generous and always making his payments.
PARKER
So how'd you fine folks end up on this snowball?
TELIOS
We are part of the Protoss Auxilia. We were recalled here to ascertain the fate of a missing mining contingent.
LAZADIN
Guarding khalai miners usually constitutes a dull task. This assignment however has proven to be far more eventful.
MELIAK
What I do not understand, terrans, is why you are assisting us when your own commander has an interest in these crystals.
MELIAK
After we banish these fanatics, this khaydarin vein will belong to the Heirarchy.
PARKER
Hell, makes no difference to me. I just want these fanatics out of here. They're dangerous.
PARKER
Either way, we're a scouting party. My boys here lost good friends. We joined Logan's mining outfit because we were interested in a little payback.
LAZADIN
A worthy goal indeed. For vengeance!
TELIOS
Do not give strength to emotions of revenge or hatred, lest they control you.
LAZADIN
Pay little heed to Telios. It has been too long since he has tasted the pleasures of the flesh.
---
LAZADIN
Though I enjoy a challenge as much as anyone, this next base could prove quite difficult to traverse...
TELIOS
It is too dangerous to pass through as of yet. However, I sense that a high templar nearby is controlling these zerg. If we kill him, it could create enough of a distraction for us to proceed.
MELIAK
If you can get me close enough to him, I shall assassinate the miscreant myself.
---
MELIAK
It is finished. I shall be keeping this crystal for myself.
TELIOS
These zerg are still under the An'Aleem's control.
LAZADIN
There must be another controller somewhere. We must find him and gut him like we would a freshly-killed Lombad.
---
TELIOS
No further controllers remain. Adun willing, the broods have scattered towards the fanatics instead of back in our direction.
Let us return to the zerg base.
---
PARKER
Damn, even more zerg...
LAZADIN
If you terrans are too weary of combat, I shall handle these zerg myself.
---
TELIOS
Terrans, it is best if you do not approach. We shall return here and notify you of what we discover.
PARKER
And if you don't come back?
LAZADIN
You let us worry about that human.
---
KHIRADUN
Hail, Daelaam warriors!
TELIOS
You are the leader of these wayward protoss?
KHIRADUN
Indeed. I am Khiradun, and I am the Executor of the An'Aleem. Though you assault us without cause, our mission is one in the same.
LAZADIN
The terrans here indicated this is not the case. Quicken us to your purpose here.
KHIRADUN
Ever since the fall of Aiur, we sought to end the zerg threat forever by resorting to means that the "new leadership" would not.
MELIAK
You believe you can genuinely control the zerg?
VORANOR
These cretins have come here for one thing only, and they cannot be persuaded. They just slaughtered our brethren, and that one there is a dark templar! Why are you even engaging in diplomacy Khiradun?
KHIRADUN
Because Voranor, where you see a threat and a juvenile superstition, I see a potential ally. Our brethren lie dead partly because of your lack of tact. Do not forget this.
VORANOR
Of course, Executor. I shall try to keep an open mind.
KHIRADUN
The zerg can be destroyed, but only by taking advantage of their one weakness: their hive mind. Kerrigan currently controls most of the broods because there are no others to claim them.
KHIRADUN
Protoss were not created to control zerg of course, but the khaydarin crystals can be...modified to interface with the hive-mind link. This crystal bed will provide us everything we need to control all of the swarms in this sector.
MELIAK
Have you lost mind? Ulrezaj attempted a similar feat himself and we were nearly vanquished!
MELIAK
And the terrans also attempted to take the easy way out with their psi disruptor and psi emitters. Their worlds lie in ashes as a result!
MELIAK
You may be able to control the zerg for a time...but it will not last. The zerg will evolve, and your weapon will be useless, even if we assume Kerrigan does not kill every last one of you before you can make good use of it.
KHIRADUN
Simply because the technique was misused previous times does not mean it is unworthy. You have to open your mind to the possibilities. The zerg may adapt, but so will we!
KHIRADUN
Imagine, we could retake Aiur without losing a single protoss warrior! Then we would have the swarms annihilate after our goals are served. We could win.
ORTHOS
En Taro Tassadar mighty warriors, my name is Orthos. I am the head of the mining expedition. I have decided to stay here for this very cause.
ORTHOS
Khiradun is correct you know. Artanis would have you all die fighting for honor and glory when there is an easier way. You can help save millions of protoss lives.
VORANOR
Ah, the traitor arrives. You should realize that your friend Orthos did not stay here out of good will. He was offered a high status among us as well as a portion of the crystals, so that after this was all over, he would live like a god.
ORTHOS
It is true, the Hierarchy gives mining crews little recompense. We are but menial laborers. Yet if my efforts help our race, who can object?
TELIOS
Our people cannot afford another invasion. If your technique has merit, then I shall lead the charge to convince Artanis myself.
MELIAK
Perhaps this does warrant some consideration.
LAZADIN
I shall take part. But be warned, if harm comes to my brethren, the retribution of the Daelaam protoss shall be swift.
KHIRADUN
You are welcome to our base camp. I shall allow you to retain your old ranks, provided you serve us with honor.
---
MELIAK
What of the terrans you attacked here?
KHIRADUN
A regrettable situation. We were seen as invaders and fired upon. Though it is little condolence, give the following ore to the families of the miners, along with our apologies.
KHIRADUN
I have one final caution. You will find that many in this camp will not be receptive to dark templar.
KHIRADUN
I however, know that your order is largely honorable. Your people gave refuge to the khalai when Aiur was destroyed. As such, you shall be afforded the utmost respect here.
MELIAK
Very well. Perhaps I shall reevaluate my stance towards the An'aleem.
---
MELIAK
So, how and when are we going to betray these simpletons before they cause more damage?
TELIOS
I believe in their endeavor. If what they plan could actually work...
MELIAK
Telios, do not be a fool! Every single time anyone has tried to control the zerg it has backfired. There is a reason Artanis looks down upon such things.
TELIOS
Our race is close enough to the precipice of extinction. The zerg cannot be destroyed by conventional means, and you know this!
MELIAK
You forget that we have a mission here. The Hierarchy will strip you of your rank if we are discovered. As your friend, I shall not force your hand, but I shall not be taking the fall for any of this.
TELIOS
As it stands, I am staying here. Take that as you will.
MELIAK
Supreme Principality Deimios will not be pleased.
LAZADIN
Both of you are too ill at ease. Simply offer Artanis a plea for more time until we can ascertain the best course of action.
LAZADIN
I shall return to base camp. Perhaps my new friend can enlighten us to these fanatics intentions.
<Leaves>
---
PARKER
You actually came back.
MELIAK
Parker. The An'aleem give you this ore to distribute to the families of the dead soldiers and miners, along with their apologies.
PARKER
We followed you for payback, not crystals and apologies.
MELIAK
Such is not completely out of the question. Let us discuss matters further.
PARKER
Sounds like you've already got an idea. Hit me.
MELIAK
Judging by the numbers of this fanatic group, your commander Logan has enough firepower here to eradicate them. Convince
Logan to attack the An'aleem, and I shall handle the rest.
PARKER
With all the zerg we've just seen...I'm not sure about this. You got a good look at their base. Tell me, what else do they have?
MELIAK
There are three separate broods currently upon the surface, and four more off-world.
MELIAK
The An'Aleem's control is limited, so the broods are not very sizable. And I believe if you strike quickly, you can deal a crippling blow to these fanatics.
PARKER
Damn. We weren't counting on them bringing half the swarm to our doorstep. I...hate to say it, but it's probably best we let this one lie.
MELIAK
Are you squeamish terran? I understood that you were interested in revenge. You will not get it by just sitting on your hands.
PARKER
And I won't get it by launching a suicide mission. I'm sorry. It's too risky.
PARKER
Logan needs to know about this. You know where to find me.
MELIAK
I will sooner grow new nerve tendrils than convince anyone on this planet.
---
LAZADIN
...so after the ultralisk trampled our base, I jumped on top of his backside and..
MELIAK
Lazadin! We require your presence. Move.
---
VORANOR
Khiradun has dictated that you all return to the north gates.
VORANOR
The high templar you destroyed were controlling several zerg in this area. An assault is encroaching upon our base camp, and we must delay them so that we can regain control.
LAZADIN
When do we depart?
VORANOR
At this very moment. I shall be at base camp working with the khaydarin crystals.
LAZADIN
Do you take us for fools? I want you with us, fanatic, so that...
TELIOS
Patience Lazadin. We killed the high templar, and these zerg are our responsibility. We shall do as you ask, Prefect.
VORANOR
Very well. The next time I have to repeat myself, there will be consequences.
LAZADIN
I hope you are not mistaken about this Telios.
<defend some zerg>
---
VORANOR
We have completed the khaydarin modulation protocols and regained control of the broods. There should be no further attacks headed your direction.
TELIOS
And we have secured the gates upon the northern border.
VORANOR
Well done. Rejoin us at base camp.
---
ARTANIS
Principality Meliak. Have you found any signs of the miners?
MELIAK
Yes. Several electrical overloads experienced during warp transit prevented them from contacting Shakuras. We are beginning the necessary repairs.
ARTANIS
Do you require extra equipment or personnel?
ORTHOS
En Taro Tassadar Heirarch. That will not be necessary. We shall be established soon and the site should be fully mined out within several weeks. However, we would ask that this military unit be allowed to remain, for our protection.
ARTANIS
Very well. This is a critical resource node. Notify me once the mining has completed.
MELIAK
En Taro Tassadar.
ARTANIS
En Taro Tassadar.
---
ORTHOS
Do you believe the deception worked?
MELIAK
I believe so. This should deter Artanis long enough for you to mine out the site.
KHIRADUN
The depth of my gratitude for your assistance is inexpressible. Yet, unfortunately I cannot allow you to linger on your victory much longer, for there is another matter that requires your assistance.
LAZADIN
The drudgery never ends.
KHIRADUN
We were experimenting with long-range control. One of the high templar you killed was not actively controlling any forces here. He maintained a brood upon the planet Desilus.
KHIRADUN
The zerg have mutated their own brood mother, and as such, we cannot reassume control of them. Since you are responsible for unleashing those zerg, I require you to travel there and kill the brood mother.
MELIAK
Already your control of the zerg is beginning to slip. The more you begin relying on them, the more you expose yourself. How long will it be before the Queen of Blades herself realizes what you are attempting?
VORANOR
This was not due to our lack of control. It is your own intolerance which has unleashed these zerg.
TELIOS
I shall assist with reigning in the brood.
LAZADIN
Should it come to pass that even more zerg seek to temper my blade? I shall partake in this worthy endeavor.
MELIAK
I shall remain behind to observe for other communications from the Hierarchy and oversee our mining operations.
KHIRADUN
Very well. En Taro Tassadar brave warriors.
Mission 2
Outskirts of An'Aleem Staging Area
Desilus System, 8:08 SCT, 11.21.2504
LAZADIN
It is impressive that this weapon allows access to nearly every strain of zerg. How does it function?
ORTHOS
Quite simple. The crystal lattice widebands our psionics and allows us to interface with the hive-mind link across several transdimensional psionic spectra by emulating the 3,5-sigma neurotransmitters found in higher-order...
TELIOS
Is there a reason that the "traitor" is accompanying us on this mission?
ORTHOS
I am simply here to coordinate the proper usage of the crystals. In time, I hope to redeem myself in your eyes Legionary, so that you may have no further misgivings about me.
ORTHOS
I shall set up the equipment as soon as possible. Legionary Telios, you will help me prepare the crystal for use since you are more familiar with khaydarin modulation protocols.
VORANOR
Our observers also discovered that several warp gates have lost power. However, moving to reclaim them would delay our attack upon the primary hive.
VORANOR
We should move quickly before the zerg perceive a threat and bolster their ranks.
LAZADIN
For once I agree with Voranor. Striking quickly and decisively is indeed the best course of action.
TELIOS
Do not be rash. Allowing us further time to gather our strength will ensure a more successful attack. We should activate those warp gates.
TELIOS
We must also reconnoiter the area before we foolishly careen into the primary hive.
VORANOR
Do not lecture me on tactics Legionary. I served the Protoss Empire for centuries before I joined the An'Aleem. I defended the honor of the protoss at Ni Monn Adun itself.
TELIOS
You fought at the Heart of Adun? Under whose command?
VORANOR
Executor Almiun.
TELIOS
I know of him - an honorable warrior. He reached the Khala's end much too quickly.
ORTHOS
Indeed, all protoss know of the Heart of Adun. One of the few areas on Aiur that is still green - a great symbol for our people.
TELIOS
And for this you have my respect Voranor. Yet most of all, you should know it is better to tread safely when lives are at risk.
VORANOR
It makes little difference to me. Let us simply see the task finished.
---
(timer expires)
TELIOS
The zerg have noted our presence, and are reacting immediately.
ORTHOS
That is a great deal of zerg. I do not think we are prepared for them.
TELIOS
Let me show you these crystals' true function.
<psionic storm>
ORTHOS
Amazing...I have never witnessed a psionic storm personally...
VORANOR
Legionary! Such use of the crystals is forbidden! You know what happened to the rogue tribes and their runaway psionic storms on Aiur.
TELIOS
Indeed, but the Khala provides great control, and I have used khaydarin for many centuries.
VORANOR
It is forbidden, nevertheless.
TELIOS
Understood. This recent exertion has wearied me...
---
Infested pit intro: <nexus warps in>
ORTHOS
Our sensors have detected an "infested pit". It has been theorized that zerg who do not have a current primary objective create such cesspools to bioengineer new strains of acids and toxic substances.
ORTHOS
The pit is largely filled with aberrant biological refuse, and the Brood Mother selects the most useful mutations, which we think are transmitted across the hive-mind link back to the Queen of Blades herself.
LAZADIN
This one's ramblings are beginning to vex me greatly.
ORTHOS
My point is that it should be studied! We are the first protoss that can walk into a base to observe its functions and live.
VORANOR
I shall suggest this to Executor Khiradun after we have accomplished our objective here.
LAZADIN
Perhaps you should resume your duties, or you will have your chance to study the pit when I kick you in there personally.
---
TELIOS
Psionic waveform modulation completed. The crystal is ready for use.
ORTHOS
Excellent. The strike team should be soon arriving at the Brood Mother.
----
LAZADIN
Our time grows short. Press forward!
LAZADIN
Cowards! Why have you fallen ba...
LAZADIN
Ah, I see.
LAZADIN
Then let it not be said that my last act was in vain.
LAZADIN
For the 19th! Il mahra-danash!! <Lazadin dies>
TELIOS
I sense...Lazadin. No.
---
ORTHOS
The high templar has regained control of the brood.
---
TELIOS
How could this have happened?
VORANOR
My warriors tell me that a fit of battle rage caused Lazadin to stray from the front lines.
VORANOR
He could not be saved. I am sorry.
TELIOS
Show me what happened. I want to see the memory!
VORANOR
Khyron, show him what you experienced.
---
<show Lazadin breaking from the lines while they stay back>
LAZADIN
Our time grows short. Press forward!
---
TELIOS
I do not understand. Lazadin has long been able to harness his rage.
VORANOR
Remember, by consecrating himself as part of the Templar, Lazadin devoted himself to protecting the lives of others at the peril of his own.
VORANOR
Take comfort in knowing that when he reached the khala's end by falling upon the field of battle, he achieved the greatest virtue ever known!
ORTHOS
Indeed. I am sorry for your friend, Telios. But now that the high templar has regained control of the brood, we can return to
Oden to rest.
Mission 3
Kel-Morian Base Camp
Planet Oden, 12:45 SCT, 11.21.2504
PARKER
Logan, listen. We've all lost many friends to these protoss. You can help avenge them.
LOGAN
Only a fool would attack protoss without a damn good reason. We could probably take them, but it's not worth it.
PARKER
One of the protoss we met told me that a large portion of the fanatics are off-world right now. All you would have to do is get past the broods guarding their main base.
PARKER
You already know this is pure khaydarin we're talking about here. The protoss have already extracted untold amounts. It would reap you billions.
PARKER
Remember, I joined you so that you would help avenge the dead miners. This will be your only chance.
LOGAN
Alright then... For the miners. I'll have my mercenaries mobilized within the hour.
---
PARKER
It's done.
MELIAK
You have done well terran. I hereby release you from your mind control.
PARKER
<panicked/pissed> What the hell did you do to me?
MELIAK
You were adamant that this was not going to happen with your cooperation.
PARKER
This...this ain't right! You can't just take over my brain and then use us as fodder.
MELIAK
It was Logan's decision to make, not yours. I did not take that away from him. I simply used you to give him information.
MELIAK
Rest assured that your friends will die for a good cause. If these fanatics run unchecked, they could unleash the swarms upon the entire sector.
PARKER
So get the rest of your freaky protoss buddies to help you out. This has nothing to do with us!
MELIAK
I beg to differ. But enough of this. I have other matters to attend to.
---
MELIAK
Telios! You have returned! Where is Lazadin?
TELIOS
He...overestimated his reach, and fell upon the field of battle.
MELIAK
Damn! I was afraid of this! We should have never complicated ourselves in these fanatics' affairs.
MELIAK 7.5
How?
TELIOS
He pushed too deep into enemy territory. One of the warriors showed me the memory.
MELIAK
And you believe it to be trustworthy?
TELIOS
I have no evidence to the contrary as of yet.
TELIOS
I feel that I am partly to blame. If only I had given him more instruction in the ways of combat...
MELIAK
Try to put your conscience to rest old friend. We must concern ourselves with those we can still help.
MELIAK
I know you wanted to stay here and help the An'Aleem continue their research. Yet I had to force your hand.
MELIAK
For I convinced Logan to launch this attack upon the fanatics. In the chaos we can contact Artanis and assassinate the
An'Aleem leaders.
TELIOS
No...you have made a huge mistake. The An'Aleem control far more than what you have seen here. Their slave broods alone would eradicate these terrans.
MELIAK
I see. In that case we are not leaving as early as I had planned. Notwithstanding, the terrans' involvement here must be put to good use.
TELIOS
What vile humor is this? We have to warn them before they are all slaughtered!
MELIAK
It is too late.
TELIOS
For your sake, I hope you will come to see the folly of your actions this day.
<leave>
MELIAK
Damn.
---
LOGAN
Alright men. These aliens murdered our comrades as well as innocent civilians.
LOGAN
They consider themselves superior races, that's why they've come here to steal terran property.
LOGAN
Let's go paint the landscape with their guts.
---
PARKER
Commander. I was thinking we could repair this bridge. It provides a quick route to high-yield ore as well as the main protoss base.
PARKER
Unfortunately it's also closer to the main zerg base.
LOGAN
One thing at a time Parker. We'll jump off that bridge when we come to it.
---
LOGAN
By god, look at all these khaydarin crystals.
LOGAN
Keep pushing! We're almost there!
---
TELIOS
Parker!
PARKER
You're that other protoss! What the hell are you doing here?
TELIOS
I have come to warn you that your warband needs to retreat. There is an overwhelming amount of reinforcements en-route to
Oden.
PARKER
Damnit! I've already talked to Logan, but it's too late, he won't stop the attack. This wouldn't have happened if your friend
Meliak didn't pull that brainwashing trick on me.
TELIOS
Mind control?! I had thought Meliak would have known better.
TELIOS
I apologize for his actions, but you must reach Logan before it is too late. Give him this memory crystal, and he will understand.
PARKER
Why do you care about what happens to us?
TELIOS
I am part of the templar. It is my duty. Go quickly!
---
PARKER
Shit.
<Meliak shoots an energy ball down at the hydras>
PARKER
Meliak...
---
TELIOS
I sensed that you were trailing me. I knew I could rely on you Meliak.
MELIAK
The rest of the 19th would be quite irate with me if I managed to lose two of our brethren within the span of one day.
TELIOS
Ever the pragmatist I see. Nevertheless, I thank you.
TELIOS
Still, I am disappointed that you employed mind control against the Terran.
TELIOS
You know how I feel about mind control. It is better that our foes should die than face such a dishonor.
MELIAK
Such beliefs are best reserved for peace-time brother. Had my plan been more fruitful, I would have gladly done it again.
MELIAK
I urge you however to reconsider allying yourself with the An'Aleem. I have studied the weapon designs. We both know it will not work for long.
TELIOS
I shall not give up hope. Billions of protoss have fell to the zerg, and a new weapon which can minimize our casualties is exactly what we need.
---
<scene of zerg reinforcements arriving from space>
---
LOGAN
Fall back you sons of bitches! Fall back. We've got what we came for.
---
VORANOR
Executor, the situation is grim. Our standing broods have been decimated and the terran mercenaries managed to steal several crystals.
VORANOR
But our backup broods have arrived and the vast majority of the terrans have already begun retreating.
KHIRADUN
Destroy what few terran stragglers still exist. We must send them a clear message that this planet belongs to us now.
VORANOR
Their retreat is much too timely. They must have been warned by someone.
KHIRADUN
I doubt any of our warriors care for the fate of these terrans. Yet if you find any proof, bring it to my attention.
Mission 4
An'Aleem Primary Nexus
Planet Oden, 20:32 SCT, 11.21.2504
MELIAK
En Taro Adun, Executor.
KHIRADUN
En Taro Adun, Principality. I know you grieve for the loss of your brother, Evocati Lazadin. It is always unpleasant to see a friend taken away, but it is for this very purpose that our work here must see fruition.
KHIRADUN
The terrans have retreated, but I fear they shall return. This human known as Logan is covetous and eager to steal what plunder he can from this place.
KHIRADUN
I want you all to take our fastest ships, and destroy Logan's Battlecruiser. I want no more distractions from our primary purpose.
MELIAK
If I may suggest an alternative. Let me infiltrate his command ship, and execute him personally.
MELIAK
It will be dangerous, but my knowledge of stealth will allow us to assassinate Logan with the least casualties.
TELIOS
I have intimate knowledge of the designs and schematics of these primitive terran battlecruisers. I could give Meliak valuable information for how to best advance.
KHIRADUN
Normally I would not approve such a reckless tactic. But we have little to risk in this endeavor. You may proceed.
MELIAK
Then let it be affirmed. This Prospector Logan shall embrace the void before the next sunrise.
---
MELIAK
Let us reiterate the plan. We will find a human and take from his mind the location of Logan. If Logan is not on the bridge, we will hunt him down.
MELIAK
If he is on the bridge however, it will not be as easy. In that case, after we reach the sub-ventilation chambers, the decoy team will openly proceed into the fusion reactor to create a diversion.
MELIAK
That should provide a large enough distraction for us to move in for the kill.
MELIAK
Once we reach Logan and execute him, we shall activate the warp sequence on our power suits, so escape will not be an issue and we will return to the An'Aleem infirmary.
MELIAK
These disguises will not endure indefinitely, so we must make haste!
---
ADJUTANT
Protoss detected.
MELIAK
Orin ore'kal a'rash.
---
LOGAN
Hurry up and make your repairs would you so I can get out of this blasted walker.
GHOST
Prospector Logan, we have been infiltrated by the protoss.
LOGAN
Damnit. As if those bastards haven't caused us enough trouble.
LOGAN
We are not landing until every last inch of this ship is scoured. Let's go. I'm leading a search party myself.
GHOST
We advise against that. We believe there is a dark templar aboard. He will kill you all unless we stop him.
GHOST
We suggest you retreat to the bridge. It is the most secure area on this ship.
LOGAN
Alright... I want you each to split up into three teams and find this son of a bitch. Make sure you have backup detection. Move!
GHOST
Understood.
---
MELIAK
Human, give me the location of your commander, Logan.
LESTER
I ain't tell'n you nothing!
MELIAK
Not true. You simply need motivation, of the forced variety.
<uses mind control>
MELIAK
Your mind belongs to me now. I shall be taking the access codes and schematics for this ship.
MELIAK
I will expect any other kind of assistance you can offer.
---
GHOST
Prospector Logan. I found this one turning off security cameras. He is under the influence of mind control.
LOGAN
Drugs again?!
GHOST
It's the dark templar...sir. A form of brainwashing.
LOGAN
Oh... Well what are you looking at me for? Can you reverse it?
GHOST
No, but I've looked into his thoughts. The Dark Templar is headed for this bridge, and the other team plans to sabotage the reactor.
LOGAN
I'll take care of the other team. From what Parker has told me, the dark templar is probably Meliak. Handle him.
GHOST
All over it.
---
GHOST
Got you in my scopes, you son of a bitch.
MELIAK
I sense someone!
GHOST
The hell did he go?
GHOST
Let go of me protoss, and Logan may be lenient!
MELIAK
Silence fool. I have what I need from you.
---
LOGAN
Damnit! The other team was a decoy!
LOGAN
Ghost team, come in! I repeat, come in!
LOGAN
Adjutant, give me the last known location of the protoss.
LOGAN
Let's move! I've got a surprise for this son of a bastard.
---
<meliak hauls serious ass, but marines come out and entrap him>
LOGAN
He's here! Release the EMP!
LOGAN
I know you're there Protoss! Reveal yourself or we'll blast you out of hiding.
MELIAK
I am Meliak, a Principality of the 19th Protoss Auxilia.
LOGAN
I've heard about you. I have to say, I'm very impressed you got this far. The name's Logan.
MELIAK
I know of you well, Prospector. You are the avaricious gold miner.
MELIAK
I wish I could say it was a distinct honor, but differentiating you from all other terrans on this criteria alone could prove difficult.
LOGAN
Good. I consider it to be a virtue. But that aside, your infiltration skills could prove to be quite valuable.
LOGAN
I'll give you one chance. If you join us...you could earn a far larger sum of the crystals you want than your efforts here are getting you.
MELIAK
I would never deign to have such petty and base motivations.
LOGAN
Well then, your brain-jacking days are over. Kill 'em!
---
MELIAK
Damn, that operation was less than successful. Now that the khalai have finished examining me I can leave.
MELIAK
I still have these undetectable antimatter pulse charges that were meant for Logan's ship.
MELIAK
If I can sabotage this facility, then at the time of my choosing, the An'Aleem will have no way to save their warriors from death.
MELIAK
None must see me.
<get past the warriors and make your way out>
---
<meliak walks in>
TELIOS
How exactly does something like this occur?
KHIRADUN
I have told you, Artael suffered a lapse in his concentration.
MELIAK
Ah brethren, what ill news troubles us now?
ORTHOS
High Templar Artael was assigned to a slave brood. Yet the brood assaulted our base camp and killed several protoss, as well as the nearby human city.
VORANOR
Principality Meliak...I was informed of your failure.
MELIAK
Apologies, Prefect. But these humans are not as eager to die as we would like.
TELIOS
Logan is of no concern. Let us return to the matter at hand, Executor. You have pushed things too far this time.
KHIRADUN
Such was not my intent.
TELIOS
Artael himself admitted that he was not ready to control a slave brood. We need to maintain control, not expand it. You have foolishly...
KHIRADUN
Silence! I can assure you that the Queen of Blades is expanding her broods as we speak. If we are to retake Aiur, we must do likewise.
MELIAK
Retake Aiur? What delusions of grandeur have caused you to entertain such a fanciful ideal?
KHIRADUN
Enough! We have the weapon. We know how to use it. Now we just need to leverage it. You are all dismissed.
---
MELIAK
Telios, have you reconsidered your position here?
TELIOS
I may have to. Khiradun has proven to be reckless and greedy. I do not trust him with the weapon designs, but I am not ready to abandon this project just yet.
MELIAK
As I have been saying all along. Yet, there is something else you are missing. Orthos.
ORTHOS
I have spent much time amidst the warriors here. By and large, they still mistrust you. There is much tumult amongst their ranks for this reason, as well as their recent failure.
ORTHOS
I have come here because I believe their wantonness will be their own downfall. You should know that they still seek revenge for their brethren that you first killed on Oden.
ORTHOS
You were...given a false memory regarding Lazadin's death. Here is the truth.
<play memory>
<Telios hulks out>
---
VORANOR
Did you feel that power surge?
KHIRADUN
Yes. Go investigate.
---
TELIOS
You! How long have you known this?
ORTHOS
By my honor, I had discovered it only recently. Yet I had concerns bringing it to you, for fear of sowing further discord.
TELIOS
You were right all along Meliak. We should have simply followed orders from the beginning.
MELIAK
Then it is time we finished our mission here.
TELIOS
I assume you already have a course of action?
MELIAK
Indeed.
---
ORTHOS
Executor! Come quick!
KHIRADUN
What is it Orthos?
ORTHOS
Meliak and Telios...they have betrayed you!
KHIRADUN
What?! Do you have proof of this?
ORTHOS
We do not have much time! All I know is that they are heading to the communications room. They are attempting to contact
Artanis.
ORTHOS
I have sent out a silent alert.
KHIRADUN
Are you apprised of their current location?
ORTHOS
Indeed, they shall be upon the ninth level corridors shortly.
---
KHIRADUN
You two! What is this? What have you done?
TELIOS
What have you done? Your reckless plans have endangered protoss lives. We are here to put an end to your imprudent machinations.
KHIRADUN
It is your actions that are imprudent. Soon these halls will be swarming with my warriors.
MELIAK
We have taken certain...precautions to prevent that from happening.
KHIRADUN
You too Orthos? I should have seen it coming.
MELIAK
You have performed well Orthos. We shall handle it from here.
TELIOS
Consider this revenge. For Lazadin. I am sure he felt much the same way you do now.
KHIRADUN
I had nothing to do with his death. But I was a fool to have given sanctuary to you protectorate mongrels.
KHIRADUN
I welcomed you like brothers, and this is how you repay me?
KHIRADUN
It is true then what they say, that dark templar are liars and deceivers.
KHIRADUN
But it means little. My place will be taken by another.
MELIAK
Enough talk. It is long past time we sent your soul back into the void.
<boss fight khiradun dies>
MELIAK
Our gratitude for the assistance, Orthos.
ORTHOS
My pleasure Principality. Though the promise the An'Aleem brought was enticing, serving the Hierarchy is what really matters.
TELIOS
Do not indulge us with your humor, miner. We promised you amnesty, but you are still a traitor in my eyes.
MELIAK
I believe that is sufficient infighting for one day. Let us return to the camp so as not to arouse suspicion.
MELIAK
Our priority now is to convince the An'Aleem to return to the jurisdiction of the Hierarchy.
Mission 5
An'Aleem Primary Staging Grounds
Planet Oden, 7:25 SCT, 11.26.2504
VORANOR
So you are suggesting we return to Shakuras? How do we know Artanis will not destroy our work?
MELIAK
I shall ensure that the weapon you have developed here is put to good use. If you use the weapon to any large degree, the
Hierarchy will know regardless.
TELIOS
It is better to work with them than against them. I shall also rally my support.
TELIOS
When we retake Aiur, I shall ask Artanis to launch the invasion from the Heart of Adun itself.
VORANOR
This is a serious proposal. I require time to think on this.
VORANOR
I shall return to you with an answer after consulting with the remaining Prefects.
<voranor leaves>
MELIAK
We have him.
---
VORANOR
We have decided that we shall partake in your plan. We shall return with you to Shakuras.
VORANOR
But be warned, if your masters reject our plan, they shall not hold us against our will.
TELIOS
I sense you are still ambivalent about this decision. Do not be. What you have done this day could very well lead to the salvation of our people.
---
<voranor accesses records>
VORANOR
What is this?
<meliak kills khiradun>
VORANOR
Khiradun, no!
VORANOR
Those damned cowards. I will splay them open with my own claws!
---
TELIOS
Greetings Voranor. Have you finished prep-
VORANOR
Silence! We have discovered your treachery.
TELIOS
We've been surrounded!
ORTHOS
Voranor, calm down. Tell us what is troubling you.
VORANOR
An observer captured all your actions - how you betrayed Khiradun. He welcomed you to our fold with kindness, and you killed him for it.
MELIAK
Khiradun was getting reckless. He endangered all your lives. Whatever you intend to do, stop and think about it first.
VORANOR
I have. I have decided that you will die in the same hallway that you murdered Khiradun!
VORANOR
Brethren. Destroy these traitors.
ORTHOS
No, please I can still be of-
<Meliak blinks Telios away, Orthos gets killed>
---
MELIAK
I cannot maintain the cloak any longer.
TELIOS
A group of terrans approaches...
PARKER
Well if it isn't Meliak and Telios, my old chums. Fancy seeing you here.
TELIOS
Parker. How is it that you have come here?
PARKER
Well ever since Logan left, it became obvious he never had any plans to help us.
PARKER
We've been trying to steal some crystals in the hopes of paying for another militia to drive out these fanatics. No luck.
PARKER
And you? What's your deal?
MELIAK
They have grown reckless. We have decided to put a stop to their efforts, and we were nearly vanquished.
TELIOS
We have a superior plan to rid Oden of these trespassers. Will you join us?
PARKER
Last time we "joined you," Meliak mind controlled me and nearly got us all killed.
MELIAK
But I did not let that happen, did I? After all, we are friends.
PARKER
Do you mind control all your friends and throw them into a war that you started?
MELIAK
Just the ones that I like.
PARKER
Fair enough. I guess you're serious about taking them out this time, so we've got work to do.
TELIOS
I know several gateways in this region. We need to capture them to bring in reinforcements.
PARKER
Aren't they heavily guarded?
MELIAK
Surprisingly, no, most of the An'Aleem are searching for us elsewhere. This leaves the gateways and the hive clusters themselves open to assault.
MELIAK
I still have the crystal from the first high templar controller that we destroyed. We can use it to regiment our own zerg force.
---
PARKER
This feel like deja vu to anyone else?
TELIOS
We are not familiar with that expression.
PARKER
It's just a...<sigh>. Never mind.
---
PARKER
Who do you think will answer your call for help Telios?
TELIOS
The 19th auxilia of course. I have helped many of our brothers on their missions during my slower days. They shall do likewise.
MELIAK
We will need dark templar for this task. Not only can they infiltrate the hive clusters, but their mastery of void energy will make their control far more potent.
TELIOS
Initiating warp transfer protocol.
MELIAK
Brothers. We called, and you came. Our gratitude knows no bounds.
MELIAK
This fanatic sect is attempting the unthinkable. Controlling zerg with khaydarin crystals. We attempted to infiltrate their ranks but were discovered.
TELIOS
But they have a weakness. A high templar is required to continuously maintain active control over a brood. Execute the high templar, and you can claim the brood as your own.
MELIAK
The notion of touching minds with the creatures is most loathsome. However, this abomination cannot be allowed to continue.
We have no other choice.
TELIOS & MELIAK
For the 19th!
---
<objectives: bring a dark templar to each beacon>
MELIAK
Excellent. We only require six more bases.
MELIAK
But we must be careful to not lose any along the way. The An'Aleem are known to use Nydus Networks.
MELIAK
We can expect that they will attempt to reassert dominance.
---
TELIOS
It is well that the majority of the An'Aleem's forces are scattered throughout the mountains, searching for us.
TELIOS
Doubtless, they did not expect an attack upon their own hive clusters.
MELIAK
But we must be prepared for their return.
---
PARKER
No matter what new monsters these zerg seem to come up with, it's always the zerglings that scare the hell out of me.
PARKER
I've blown off zergling heads, limbs and even parts of their torso, only for them to keep on coming.
PARKER
Are you afraid of any zerg Telios?
TELIOS
The most fearsome of all zerg is the nydus worm, for with it can come a hundred zerglings. Even a thousand.
TELIOS
It reminds me of the siege of the Shadow Fortress. We were horrendously outnumbered, but still we held our ground.
PARKER
What happened?
TELIOS
The zerg began using nydus worms to come from beneath our feet.
TELIOS
We only survived because the super carriers arrived just in time for evacuation.
---
MELIAK
I never thought I would see the day where I would work alongside these abominations.
TELIOS
Indeed. But remember that though they are merely tools, they still cannot be ascribed our trust. I learned this, and that is why
I am here now.
---
PARKER
Some of my soldiers wonder whether it was right of us to go along with you again. After all, you're doing the same exact thing as these fanatics.
TELIOS
Once we have crushed the An'Aleem, we shall destroy the zerg as well as the weapons that allow us to control them.
PARKER
I know. I believe you, but my men have been through all this before.
TELIOS
As per the edicts of the Dae'Uhl, I once watched over a terran colony before the Great War. It was called Antiga Prime.
TELIOS
I feel responsible for what happened to its people. To this day I seek to redeem myself for not being able to save them. Yet during the time I have spent watching them, there is one thing that I learned.
TELIOS
It is that while we all wish for life to stay still, our greatest moments occur when forced to adapt. It is nature's overriding imperative.
---
PARKER
So tell me what will happen after we succeed. Will you all be gone for good?
MELIAK
The hierarchy will come in and mine out the crystal bed.
PARKER
Nothing will have changed.
MELIAK
Indeed. But I can assure you that the Hierarchy will leave you at peace, as opposed to the nefarious terran prospectors who would plunder this land instead.
PARKER
I'm really not seeing the difference here. We get screwed over no matter which way you slice it.
MELIAK
The difference, is that the protoss will use this wealth to fight zerg, not line their own homes with treasures.
---
TELIOS
We have done it. The broods are ours. Now we need to fortify our position for the coming onslaught.
MELIAK
And so we shall. Ahl-umidorr.
TELIOS
Ahl-umidorr.
Mission 6
Clearwater Mountains
Planet Oden, 12:03 SCT, 11.26.2504
VORANOR
Brethren, we have suffered a vulgar betrayal.
VORANOR
Our benevolent leader lies dead. And our broods have been stolen out from under our grasp.
VOARNOR
Yet we can still prevail. I have marshaled the full strength of the An'Aleem and recalled our fleets.
VORANOR
Our research here has produced something of great value. Something that can be used to save our race from oblivion.
VORANOR
The protoss we fight now would not use this weapon to save our race, yet have no qualms in using it against us.
VORANOR
These sub-protoss scum must be eradicated. Their blatant hypocrisy cannot be allowed to endanger our race further.
VORANOR
I call upon you all to summon the righteous fury that is our birthright, and scourge these vile betrayers from existence.
VORANOR
To battle, brave warriors of the An'Aleem. May Adun watch over you.
---
MELIAK
Setting charges to overload...
VORANOR
The hospital! No...
---
VORANOR
You are at our mercy now, dissembler.
VORANOR
Any last confessions before you die?
MELIAK
I consider you all responsible for what happened to Lazadin. He was betrayed in the most vile manner.
MELIAK
So yes, I do have one thing I want you to know about Khiradun.
MELIAK
I'm the one who severed your vaunted leader's link to the Khala just before I killed him.
MELIAK
Now, he will be remembered by no one, not even the preservers.
VORANOR
Monster! Khiradun's memory did not deserve to be desecrated in such a way!
MELIAK
And what of Lazadin's memory? Since you did not come forward when he was betrayed, this was the only way I had of striking back. I hope you enjoy it.
VORANOR
I will enjoy it greatly, coward.
<whispers>
<lightning>
<several protoss destroyed with lightning bolt>
TELIOS
The eminent Meliak shall not fall this day. Recant your perfidious designs.
VORANOR
This, from one who destroyed a hospital. Do you honestly believe there can be absolution for your sins?
TELIOS
If you wish to fight, then meet me at the black mesa. It is there that one of us shall attain vengeance.
---
TELIOS
So, you have mustered the courage to face me?
VORANOR
I would relish the chance to plunge my blade into one of Khiradun's killers.
VORANOR
Your fate shall be the same as that of Orthos. Do you know what his last thoughts were before he died?
VORANOR
He wanted to know why you abandoned him. How unsurprising, that you would betray even your closest allies.
VORANOR
But I am here because there is not a single one of my brothers that I would abandon.
VORANOR
That is what separates us from you. Your types sicken me. Prepare to make peace with Adun.
TELIOS
So be it. For vengeance.
<fight>
TELIOS
You should have never challenged me.
VORANOR
You may have bested me for the moment, traitor. But your death is inevitable. Next time you see me, it will be at the end of my psi blade.
---
VORANOR
We have destroyed the last of their defenses. Finish them off brethren!
VORANOR
What is this?
VORANOR
Logan. Damn. I had not expected him to return so soon.
---
TELIOS
A terran prospector mining force is fast approaching. Given our defeat here, it seems our only course of action is to retreat to our last serviceable stronghold.
PARKER
This....ain't good. Logan will bleed the local populace dry to fund his attack. Damnit!
MELIAK
I regret not killing this human when I had the chance. If the 19th does not send massive reinforcements, we will all be vanquished.
Mission 7
Southern Border of Duneyr River
Planet Oden, 15:03 SCT, 11.26.2504
VORANOR
I suggest a truce. It is the only way any of us will survive the coming onslaught of the terrans.
MELIAK
We have already been robbed of our objective upon this planet, to secure the crystals. We have no need to aid you now.
VORANOR
There are other resource caches in existence. We shall take what is already mined of the crystals and leave. You can report back to Shakuras, and return in victory instead of defeat.
TELIOS
A tempting offer. Yet you do not expect me to take your word for it.
VORANOR
Of course not. I shall join minds with you in the Khala. We both know that in this mind link, no protoss can lie.
VORANOR
After we defeat the terrans, we will take the crystals that have already been extracted and leave this place without further aggression.
TELIOS
So be it. We will hold you to your vow.
---
LOGAN
Gentlemen. Thanks for meeting me...
LOGAN
Son of a bitch. I thought we killed you.
MELIAK
You are not the first to say that.
LOGAN
Oh I don't doubt that. But I just might be the first to get a second shot at it.
PARKER
Or maybe you've got that the other way around.
LOGAN
Parker. You disappoint me. It's not too late to change your mind. You're heavily outnumbered.
VORANOR
Prospector! This resource cache is rightfully ours. Your aggression here is unsanctioned.
LOGAN
On the contrary, I am well within my rights as a law-abiding Kel-Morian prospector.
LOGAN
This planet was under the protection of the Combine before you invaded.
TELIOS
You will find that the populace will not be any more receptive to you than they are to us.
TELIOS
If you think that you will be seen as a hero for routing us, you are severely mistaken.
VORANOR
He shall do no such thing. We have vast fleets waiting in reserve, ready to be warped in.
VORANOR
Prospector Logan. I shall give you one last chance to recant and withdraw your forces from this quadrant before we pulverize you and your warriors into atoms.
LOGAN
That's one idea. Know what I think?
LOGAN
I think you gentlemen already blew your load fighting each other, and if you had the strength to defeat me, you'd have attacked by now.
LOGAN
Leave. Or prepare to be destroyed. It makes no difference to me.
VORANOR
Your greed shall be your downfall human. This time you have grasped too far.
---
LOGAN
Alright men. It's just like I told you. This is the biggest resource cache in the quadrant.
LOGAN
The warring protoss factions here are weak, and I don't need to remind you that khaydarin crystal practically grows on trees over here.
LOGAN
We've landed on the opposite side of the Duneyr river in order to set up camp safely.
LOGAN
Once we have distributed all the munitions and set up the supply lines, our Hercules dropships can facilitate our invasion.
LOGAN
Before this day is over, you will all be rich men.
---
PARKER
<yelling>
We've got more incoming! We're not going to survive the next wave.
TELIOS
I will hold them back for as long as I can. There is little else you can do here. Go, warn Meliak and Voranor.
PARKER
But you're not...
TELIOS
Go! If I can give Voranor enough time to fortify our last entrenchment, then you all might have a chance! I shall hold this position with my life.
---
TELIOS
Meliak, I am sorry old friend.
<Telios sacrifices himself & creates a huge psionic storm>
---
MELIAK
Telios!
MELIAK
Another mighty soul vanquished by these blasted humans. By Adun, the 19th Auxiliary shall have retribution for this anathema.
---
PARKER
I..I..saw him burn up.
PARKER
Damnit. I shouldn't have left him!
MELIAK
It seems our agreement is now annulled, Voranor...
MELIAK
...considering that we are all about to be vanquished upon this frozen backwater!
VORANOR
If you had been willing to work with us instead of stabbing us in the spine, none of this would be happening. You deserve whatever manner of death is coming for us.
Mission 8
Command Ship Kimera
Crew Complement: 757. Oden High Orbit. 21:03 SCT, 11.26.2504
LOGAN
All outlying protoss forces have been destroyed. Now it's time to finish...
LOGAN
Hundreds of warp signatures descending on our location...
LOGAN
Do they have a small brood in reserve?
LOGAN
Oh....no, it's...protoss..
---
<artanis's fleet warps in>
ARTANIS
Supreme Principality Deimios, as the Executor of the Oden Expedition, you shall be my legate in all military matters here.
ARTANIS
You have the entirety of the 19th Auxilia at your disposal. In addition, Admiral Urun has authorized the use of the Turalyon
Wing.
ARTANIS
Use what force you deem necessary.
ARTANIS
I shall attempt to make contact with these terrans' leader.
DEIMIOS
Understood Heirarch.
DEIMIOS
12th Division, rally behind Evocati Lazadin. Save the remaining templar.
---
MELIAK
Warriors...organize to defend the breach. Ruination comes to claim our souls, but we shall not go quietly. For Aiur!
VORANOR
For Aiur!
---
LAZADIN
I have failed to protect my brothers once before. I shall not make the same mistake again...
LAZADIN
Hold fast brave warriors. The Sons of Aiur have not forsaken you yet.
<badass locking/power-up sound>
---
MELIAK
Lazadin? You yet live.
LAZADIN
Well met, Meliak! Where is Telios?
MELIAK
He fell upon the field of battle. The treachery of the terrans knows no bounds.
LAZADIN
Logan?
MELIAK
Indeed.
PARKER
Lazadin? Haha, you protoss truly are tough sons of bitches to kill.
LAZADIN
My injuries were grievous. But my spirit prevails within this steel exoskeleton.
PARKER
Well welcome back to the party.
LAZADIN
Still, I regret that I shall not be able to do the things I once enjoyed. I shall...never walk among the living once more.
MELIAK
Tell me, who betrayed you?
LAZADIN
I only know that the warriors who were with me led me into a trap.
MELIAK
How is it that you have returned with the support of the Heirarchy?
LAZADIN
When the warriors of the 19th began traveling through the gateways and lending you their aid, I was called before Deimios and
Artanis.
LAZADIN
When I told them what the fanatics were doing on this world, Artanis invoked a meeting of the council under section 12 of the military powers writ.
LAZADIN
As you can imagine, the council's sluggish pace prevented us from reacting earlier.
MELIAK
I assume you did not speak of our temporary "defection"?
LAZADIN
Of course.
PARKER
Don't want to interrupt our merry reunion with "irksome trivialities", but there's a gigantic army heading our way.
LAZADIN
Supreme Principality, we will require some assistance.
DEIMIOS
Acknowledged. I shall handle this... personally.
DEIMIOS
The terran army has been purged. You are all clear.
PARKER
You're shittin me...
---
ARTANIS
You are the commander of these terrans?
LOGAN
Yes. Who are you and what do you want?
ARTANIS
I am Artanis, Heirarch of the Protoss Protectorate. You will leave us what resources you have gathered from this place and depart.
LOGAN
Why should I? This was our planet. We earned these.
ARTANIS
Because otherwise I will bring the combined might of the protoss tribes down upon your puny mining expedition. I will not offer you a second chance.
LOGAN
Fine. Give me until dawn.

MELIAK
En Taro Tassadar Heirarch. It is fortunate that you came, we have been battling these fanatics for days now and...
ARTANIS
Enough!
ARTANIS
It is clear that you lent your services to the fanatics here, as did the original mining crew. Your bungling has wasted precious lives and resources.
ARTANIS
Yet, you have rendered an important service. By assassinating the fanatic Executor, and propagating infighting amongst these fanatics, you have effectively put a stop to their dangerous control of zerg.
ARTANIS
Most of the 19th Auxilia considers you as heroes. It would be bad for morale for me to punish you. So I am giving you a second chance.
ARTANIS
But know this. If you lie to me or defy my express orders again, you shall be excommunicated from the Heirarchy.
MELIAK
Understood.
ARTANIS
Commander Parker. You have done well, defending your homeworld against intruders.
ARTANIS
We apologize for our incursion to your planet. The crystals mined out by the An'Aleem belong to your city now.
PARKER
Thank you, but what about Telios?
ARTANIS
We have not found his body. Neither did we register a warp stream from his suit on Talematros.
ARTANIS
His name shall be written in the Templar Archives, and we shall conduct a funeral ritual in his honor before nightfall.
LAZADIN
And what shall be the fate of the terran mercenaries here?
ARTANIS
We are to leave them.
MELIAK
Surely you will not let them escape? Not after what they have done here? It would be imprudent to..
ARTANIS
Silence Principality! You have forced me to waste enough resources by coming here. The terrans are of no concern to us and they have agreed to leave in peace. That is final.
VORANOR
What will you do with the weapon schematics?
ARTANIS
It is doubtful your little trick shall prove effective against the swarms in the long term. You have severely underestimated their ability to adapt.
ARTANIS
Nevertheless, it is my duty to return the weapons to Shakuras for study. I will set our greatest scientists on this.
ARTANIS
However...the weapon shall not be used. Not yet.
---
LAZADIN
Now. Voranor. Give me one reason why I should not disintegrate you where you stand.
VORANOR
I had nothing to do with your demise. I might have even found the perpetrators if your friends had come forth honestly and openly.
VORANOR
But instead they betrayed me, and threw away your chance for real justice. So perhaps you should be having this discussion with Meliak.
LAZADIN
I will not have you dishonor Meliak's name when...
MELIAK
Enough of this. What will you do now Voranor?
VORANOR
I have grown weary of all this. Our entire sect has been nearly abolished, so I will give what weapon designs we have left to
Artanis.
VORANOR
He can do with them what he will. But I shall fight for the protoss nevermore.
LAZADIN
I always knew he was a coward.
PARKER
To hell with him. He had no problem slaughtering our people when the An'Aleem first came to this planet.
MELIAK
It is of no concern. He is as one of us; war shall find him no matter where he goes. Let us return back to Shakuras.
LAZADIN
Though I live in a cold steel shell now, there is no reason we could not engage in some "revelry" upon our return.
PARKER
Thank you both. My thoughts will be with Telios.
MELIAK
Indeed. En Taro Telios.
LAZADIN
En Taro Telios!
