Cell Organelle Project In order to understand the roles that each organelle plays in a cell we’re going to be doing a project. In this project we’ll be focusing on the functions of each organelle. The manner you display your knowledge will be up to you. Option 1: Cell Brochure Design a brochure using the cell as an attraction such as an amusement park, carnival, or hotel. The brochure must include the listed organelles which "delight and amaze" their potential customers. Humor and creativity are encouraged. Use diagrams to illustrate the features of the cell. Option 2: Poems Write two poems about a cell and its parts. The topics of your poems must include one on the cell itself and one about organelles. Display your poems in flip-able book and have them neatly decorated. Different poems can be of any style or type (I Am Poem, Haiku, Acrostic, etc) Option 3: Cell Collage Using pictures cut out from magazines or printed from websites, create a cell with representations of organelles. Include descriptions of each picture explaining the picture and why you used it. Draw arrows from each of your analogies to the correct write up on your diagram to create a collage. Creativity is strongly encouraged but, remember to include the real facts about the cell you choose. Option 4: Cell Journal Entry Use your imagination and scientific knowledge of cells and organelles to write an entry on a normal day in a cell. Be sure to include the listed organelles. Creativity is strongly encouraged but you must remember to include the real facts about the cell you choose. Option 5: Physical Representation Create a physical representation of a cell. Be creative using whatever material: paper, toys, clay, even food! All organelles must be represented. Option 6: Campaign Poster Select an organelle that has the qualifications of leading the entire cell. Convince everyone that this organelle has the best qualifications by creating a campaign poster or brochure listing its strengths and abilities to offer the cell. Option 7: Must be approved by teacher. Cell Project Requirements You must include the following organelles and their functions/analogies: Cell Organelles: Cytoplasm Smooth endoplasmic *Cell wall Golgi apparatus reticulum *Vacuole Mitochondria Nucleus Cell membrane Ribosomes Rough endoplasmic Lysosomes reticulum *Chloroplasts 4 All facts are accurate. No information was withheld 3 All facts are accurate. Some information was missing 2 99-90% of the facts in the brochure are accurate. Some information was missing Pictures & Graphics Graphics go well with the text and there is a good mix of text and graphics Visual Organization The brochure has exceptionally attractive formatting and well-organized information.
