25 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE
Absolute Machine Tools, Inc. provides advanced metalworking solutions and
comprehensive services for Production Machining, Mold/Die machining, and
Multitasking, and High-speed Machining and Turning Centers, and Swiss
Turnings. Absolute has become a leading importer and distributor of high-performance
CNC machine tools, and prides itself on helping machine shops and manufacturing
facilities improve their production processes to be more competitive in a tough global
environment. We have worked with several of our principal machine tool partners for
20+ years to offer some of the most heavy-duty, high-rigid, high-precision, and
productive machines in the industry. We have built our reputation on exemplary
applications engineering, service, customer support, comprehensive training, and
effective preventive-maintenance programs. Absolute now has offices in Lorain, Ohio;
Mason, Ohio; Livonia, Michigan; and Elgin, Illinois.

TIMELINE
1988
Steve Ortner and Hayden Wellman form Absolute Digital for selling and servicing digital readouts & accessories for the machining industry.
1990
Started selling CNC machine tools and accessories. Moved to a 2,000 sq. ft. office/showroom in Elyria, OH.
1991
Began doing business as Absolute Machine Tools to better reflect the company’s emphasis on the machinery industry.
1992
Partnered with Roundtop Machinery Industries of Taiwan to supply Johnford machining centers and
turning centers to end users in the U.S. and Mexico. Built relationships with
several independent distributors to market Absolute Machine Tools product lines.
1993
Corporate name officially changes to Absolute Machine Tools, Inc.
1994
Company expansion calls for a move to an 8,500 sq. ft. office / showroom.
1995
Signed agreement with You Ji Machine Industrial of Taiwan to distribute vertical turning
centers throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
1996
Distributor network grows to 18.
1997
Began selling for Roundtop (Johnford) Machinery in Ontario, Canada.
1997
In May, Tongtai offered their new model TMV(milling & tapping center) and TNL model lathes to Absolute
for representation throughout the U.S. market. The line was being imported by Gomiya under the brand
name Galaxy. Eventually Absolute was honored as the exclusive agent for the entire Tongtai product line
and began to import the machines under the brand name Topper.
1998
Built 18,000 sq. ft. headquarters with expanded showroom at 7420 Industrial Parkway, Lorain, OH.

TIMELINE
2000
Company sales reach record level, up 60% from 1999. After a strong International
Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), our products gain wider market acceptance
and attract more distributors. Distributor base is expanded and strengthened.
2002
Launch of Hi-Net product line by Johnford. These machines were developed to meet the needs of
high speed, net shape machining in mold, die and aerospace machining.
2003
Regional Manager appointed to support distribution network in southern and western U.S.
2004
A second Regional Manager is appointed to strengthen the distributor network in the
Midwest and Northeast. Exhibited new and improved products at IMTS 2004 trade show, and,
as a result, added new distributors. Launched Johnford SL series high speed, high precision
CNC turning centers. These machines deliver ultra fast rapid traverse rates, super accurate
positioning, and super fine surface finishes.
2005
Company sales increase 50% over 2004 and a new sales record is set, beating the previous record by 30%.
A Director of Marketing is hired, along with more application engineers to support the increasing demand for turnkey solutions.
Year ends with 24 employees.
2006
Launched Johnford BMC-110 horizontal boring mills. The boring mills are the heaviest in their
class, weighing in at 55,000 lb of Meehanite cast iron. The 35 HP mill features a moving column
Z axis and a moving table X axis, which deliver maximum rigidity, accuracy, and full support of the
table over the complete X axis travel. Company sales increase to a record level, shattering the
previous year's record. Year ends with 27 employees.

TIMELINE
2007
Absolute signed an agreement with ECOCA Industrial Co., Ltd. of Taiwan to distribute SJ
and MT series CNC turning centers in the USA. Ecoca lathes provide excellent value for
U.S. manufacturers seeking economical and well-built productivity centers.
2008
Company sales soared another 50% from 2007 and sets yet another record.
2009
Absolute acquires exclusive rights to Accutex EDM product line and opens direct sales and
services office in Mason, Ohio.
Tongtai renews its exclusive contract with Absolute Machine Tools.
Participation at International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) increased awareness and sales of our
machine tools, helping to stave off the effects of a global recession.
2010
In May, Absolute entered into an exclusive agreement to distribute Quicktech CNCs throughout the
U.S. market. Quicktech is known for their super fast, super accurate multi-tasking CNC turning centers.
Following a successful showing at IMTS 2010, Tongtai purchased Quicktech, enhancing their product
line throughout the world-wide market.
In February, Absolute added a new facility in Livonia, MI to service the state of Michigan and
Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
2011
In June, Absolute added a new facility purchasing a 44,000 sq. ft. facility built in
2007 in Mason, OH. The modern technical center features the latest electronic
infrastructure, nicely appointed business offices and engineering departments, ample
assembly and inventory areas, two large showrooms, QC laboratory, and training center.
Officially opened its doors on October 25, 2011 with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Oktoberfest
Grand Opening Celebration hosting state and local dignitaries.
In December, Absolute ended the year with the largest sales volume in the
company's history at $56 M.

TIMELINE
In March, 40 US distributors of AMT tour the new You Ji factory in
Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Total sq. ft .of the new modern facility is 188,370.
The distributors also toured Johnford, Tong Tai, Quicktech, Ecoca and
AccuteX. See picture on the right for You Ji’s new factory.
2012
In December, You Ji had its 35th anniversary year and hosted a grand
ceremony hosting dealers worldwide.
In September, Absolute exhibited 29 machines across 2 booths in the South Hall’s
metal cutting pavilion and East Hall’s EDM pavilion. Six new models were introduced.
2012 came to close with record sales of $70 M. Employees reached 55.
In February, Absolute was recognized by Fanuc Robotics as an Authorized Integrator of their robotics products.
In April, Absolute signed a multi-year agreement with Precihole Machine Tools,
Thane, Maharastra, India to import and distribute deep hole and
gun drilling multi-axis machines.
2013
In July, Absolute opened a 28,000 sq. ft.
technical center in Elgin, Illinois
(Chicagoland) to service the Illinois,
Indiana, and Wisconsin manufacturing
base.
