Structure of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) • Usually completed over 2 years • Students must pass at least 16 units including at least 8 units at Year 12 level. • Only compulsory subject is English • Subjects at year 11 level are called Units 1&2 while subjects at year 12 level are called Units 3&4. Structure of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) • Students will choose 6 subjects in Year 11 and 5 subjects in Year 12. • Students may choose to undertake a Unit 3&4 subject while in Year 11. • Within subjects chosen students can include VET subjects. • Assessment in VCE Units is by a mixture of School Assessed Coursework (SACs) and Exams. • If students require an ATAR for tertiary education they will be required to complete their VCE. • Subjects are listed in the College Handbook. Preliminary choices are due at Mildura Senior College by Friday 28th August 2015. Mildura Senior College staff will assist in course counselling. The Enrolment Process YEAR 11 ORIENTATION DAYS This program is aimed at making the transition to Mildura Senior College as smooth as possible. We encourage all prospective students to attend this program. The program is for two days as follows: • Tuesday 8th December and Wednesday 9th December 2015 • Students will get the opportunity to attend lessons of their year 11 subjects and the College staff are available to help students with any enrolment or booklist problems. • Wednesday 9th December 2015 (from 3.30pm) This day will be a chance for student to come in and change subjects or discuss any concerns.
