Founded in 1967 as limited company.
Existed since 1879 as a family owned company. They are still today
family-owned and the three brothers Otto, Walter and Franz are still
running the company. All are in their sixties or late fifties. It seems that
the older generation is pulling themselves slowly out of the company
because they appointed Rolf-Guenther Krupezki as Manager and
founded a holding company that owns all the buildings and rent
that out to the work company. Children of Otto are also active in the
managing of foreign subsidiaries. Christiane and Otto Jr. are both
co-managers of Christ France. They have direct operations in various
countries in Western and Eastern Europe. Trend is down.

THE HISTORY OF THE OTTO CHRIST AG
- 1879 Anton Christ established a craft business in Memmingen, producing grain sieves,
wire mesh and iron gates.
- 1924 Wire netting produced first time ever by automatic machinery
- 1956 Production shifted to the use of steel wires and steel tapes for automobile
production
- 1963 Franz Christ proceeded with the idea to build a car wash with brush stations and
drying stations, laying the corner stone for the modern day production.
- 1966 Relocated to a new manufacturing area in Benningen
- 1968 First production of a fully automatic car wash, advanced motorization resulted
in higher demands.
- 1980 Christ decided to direct their future attention exclusively to car wash systems.
At that point in time, Christ confidently began their leading roll in Europe.
- 1996 Firma Christ became a stock corporation
Board of Directors: Franz Christ (Chairman), Otto Christ jr., R.G. Krupezki
Supervisory Board: Otto Christ (Chairman), Walter Christ, Dr. Richard Christ
With more than 650 employees throughout Europe, the company earns to date yearly
profits amounting to more than 130 million DM, with production grounds covering
over 18,158 sqm. Existing subsidiary firms are located in Sweden, England, France,
Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakian Republic, the Netherlands, Poland,
Switzerland and Hungary.
What differentiates Otto Christ Ag from their competitors, is their profound
manufacturing knowledge/experience. In addition to their in-house metal working
department, electronic engineering department, and pneumatic department, they also
have a division especially for the processing of synthetic material. Once again, Christ
takes a different approach. Since 1986, the car wash's exterior lining has been
produced with Polystyrol, but not only to avoid corrosion. In doing so, Christ has
conscientiously put special effort into exhausting all resources. The plastic lining
from damaged or old car washes is returned, shredded in a machine and the recycled
lining is then incorporated into a newly produced car wash.

New Kärcher washing systems for rolling stock
Highly flexible thanks to modular construction
A high-pressure version of the time-proven RBR 6000 has been launched
specifically for tank, hopper and other freight cars with awkward shapes that
cannot be washed cleaned in brush-type washes. In this drive-through wash, the
cars are presprayed with a cleaning solution, then washed with rotary high-pressure
pencil jets and finally rinsed to remove all residual dirt and detergent.
The new RBF 7000, whose brushes are raised and inclined to clean the nose and
tail surfaces, provides a thorough and efficient method of washing locomotives.
Numerous add-on facilities are available, such as a high-pressure chassis, side and
bogie wash. This system offers excellent performance and a high level of
equipment and is available at a favourable purchase price.
These extensions to the product line mean that Kärcher now offers cleaning
systems for almost all types of rolling stock: from trams, urban and underground
railways to locomotives as well as passenger and freight cars with the most varied
surface profiles and structures. As a systems supplier, Kärcher provides all the
services of a main contractor: from building construction, civil engineering and
tracklaying to waste water and towing systems. The first projects of this kind have
already been completed.
Right from the beginning. Back
in 1946 Karcher introduced “hp
cleaning” in Europe and created
a new product roup with
portable HP cleaners in 1984.
For over 50 years they have
been developing new ways to
handle a very old problem: dirt.
German Engineering and Research.
Over the years Karcher has perfected
their design and production
processes to ensure that the customer
gets the best quality possible.
Meeting the stringent European
quality assurance and safety
standards. They have complied with
ISO 9001 since 1991.
Production and Manufacturing With more than 70,000 square meters of factory space
in 9 different locations worldwide, Karcher has the capacity to meet every demand
for cleaning equipment. The ability to deliver at any time is a key part of Karcher’s
customer oriented philosophy

Winnenden, October 1998 - Kärcher has extended its range of locomotive and train
washing systems by introducing a number of new developments. These include a new
wash for heavily contoured rolling stock, the tandem cycle system, the high-pressure
version of the RBR 6000 and the RBF 7000 locomotive washing system. One feature
that is common to all Kärcher systems: they have been designed using the modular
method of construction. They can literally be tailor-made to exactly match a very broad
range of customer requirements.
The side brushes of the special wash for heavily contoured rolling stock are divided
into several sections so that they will even mould themselves to the curved side walls
and skirts of double-decker cars. Obviously, cars with more conventional contours can
also be washed in this drive-through wash.
The term 'tandem cycle' denotes a new washing system concept which incorporates
travelling washing brushes in a drive-through plant. The advantage of this system is
that it requires less space – the building length that is needed can be reduced by up to
25%.

Partnership for North American market
Winnenden, August 1999 - Alfred Kärcher GmbH & Co., cleaning systems, and Tornad
Corporation, manufacturer of cleaning and maintenance equipment, based in Chicago,
have agreed on a far-reaching cooperation. The result of this agreement will be the
introduction of a new trade name for the North American market: Tornado-Kärcher.
This alliance creates the world’s most comprehensive range of high quality cleaning and
maintenance machines for commercial users. In addition to scrubber-driers and sweepers
it also includes high pressure washers, vacuums, steam cleaners and brush-type car
washes. Joint experience totalling 130 years in the field of cleaning technology is a truly
solid foundation on which the alliance can build.

Their year end figures are slightly in the red (- 145.000 USD)
This company has had problems in the last years and is trying
to re-establish itself mainly in the touchless roll-over market.
In Finland their biggest customer is Neste. In other European
countries not much is sold.
Trend is: down
Tammermatic is an experienced high-technology
company that has delivered carwash machines to
more than 70 countries worldwide.
Automation and programming are also significant
areas of their expertise. Test and diagnostics
programs, on-site wash program menu customizing
and an interactive user interface are features
Tammermatic has brought to the car wash market.
30 years' experience, market awareness and
innovation has enabled Tammermatic to produce
UltraJet, which became in short period of time a
good-selling brushless rollover car wash in Europe
and has been very successful in Asian and SouthAfrican markets.
Tammermatic also acts as a contract supplier for
several international oil companies. The global sales
network is supported by the headquarters and factory
in Tampere, Finland.
Tammermatic UltraSoft car wash machine is now
available in Turbo 400 version.
It offers new features such as: Improved prewash
application equipment compatible for two different
prewash chemicals, new high impact high-pressure
nozzles, bigger high-pressure pump (18.5 kW),
multiple / intensified high-pressure application on the
front and rear of a vehicle.
The new features significantly enchant wash result,
which can be complemented with tender polishing
brushes, wax application and air drying.
Tammermatic claims that brushless carwash is conquering the carwash
markets. The Tammermatic UltraJet washing machine has rapidly risen to
become the most sold washing machine in Europe.
Its washing results set new standards for brushless car washes. Highpressure water jets, which move back and forth, efficiently clean those areas
that brushes can not reach.
With Tammermatic brushless carwash machines neither challenging contours
nor external accessories are obstacles to high-quality wash results.
However, cars with external accessories, such as ski-boxes, roof racks etc.
and/or paint in poor condition has to be washed with their special programs.
Especially in summer time airborne pollution particles form a thin layer of dirt
on the car. This type of dirt should be removed regularly. If not, the dirt may
form a hard-to-remove-film, removal of which may require a more thorough
wash program.
The Ultralux model will be introduced at AM2000
The UltraJet brushless wash fits into short washbays. The free space
lengthwise should be 2820 mm longer than the vehicle. Wash sequences and
the number of passes can be freely set to a desired order for different
seasons, weather conditions and competitive situations. For each pass a
separate speed reference can be given to speed up or to highlight wash
cycles.
The maximum wash heights are 2250 mm and 2450 mm and the maximum
widths are 2200 mm and 2400 mm.
The RoboJet brushless wash street washes, waxes and dries up to 1000
vehicles a day. It utilizes the same technology which made Tammermatic's
UltraJet in short period of time the best selling brushless rollover car wash in
Europe.
The washbay length can vary from 17.4 to 31.9 m. The wash widths and
heights can be a maximum of 2200 and 2250 mm. The minimum height and
width of the washbay are 3000 and 3800 mm (a separate technical room is
required for the pumps). The maximum drive-through height is 2400 mm
(flush mounted conveyor) or 2250 mm (surface mounted conveyor).
To date, over 3000 Rainbow machines have been delivered to every continent
to public transportation companies, freight carriers, dairies, post offices, food
and beverage distributors, depots of military bases, auto manufacturers and
other businesses where fleet wash services are needed. Modern Rainbow
machines are a combination of proven and acknowledged construction and
continuously improved, versatile function and comprehensive optional
equipment range.
Rainbow machines are suitable for all vehicles from passenger cars to
double-decker buses. The maximum wash height is 3600 to 5100 mm and the
maximum width is 2850 mm.
In addition of the brushes the Rainbow Mega includes pre-wash equipment.
They are equipped with pre-wash chemical and high pressure spray arches.
When vehicles are heavily soiled and/or presoaking of the dirt is required, use
of Mega model should be considered. For washing fleets having consisting
mainly of vehicles with odd shapes the use of the brushes is conciderably
restricted, then the Rainbow Exclusive model is used.
