Learning will be monitored through asking effective open questions which allow pupils to verbally display the knowledge that they have acquired. 2. Observation of pupils displaying skills in the lesson will monitor learning. Successful application and demonstration of acquired skills would suggest that continual learning is taking place. 3. Plenary will be used as a learning monitor, this will be through asking open questions but also by getting pupils to come up with answers from discussing with their peers. This sharing of knowledge would demonstrate that learning has taken place in a reciprocal environment. Make it a competition Reduction – increase the space between the cones Standard ‘flagged’ as significant North East Partnership Starter Activity – FRENCH WORD As part of my curriculum project pupils will be learning key words in French 5 I will teach them the words verbally Then I will hold up different items that they have to shout the answer out to. Pupils will be gathered into a small group and it will be explained to them exactly what will be expected of them during the lesson regarding the French concept – it is important to do it properly as it is a part of my final work Pupils will have the aid of flashcards throughout the lesson Each court will have a French speaker Activity 1 – rally Practice rally with your partner to continue to warm up. Pupils will have a game of “word badminton” pupils will asked to shout out the French words to their partner and the partner can either shout out in French or in English Pupils will be brought back together to re cap the key words 5 Pupils will be in half court singles I will be walking around asking them questions Pupils will be expected to learn and repeat key words and phrase whilst sat in a group. Rotate arms to get power on shot / Power through weight transfer 180o 2) Weight on back foot 3) Scratch back with racket Cones will used to indicate the area they are aiming for IMPACT 4) Contact with shuttle at highest point 5) Transfer weight forward Equipment – Shuttles Rackets Net and Posts Cones RECOVERY 6) On toes with racket ready for next shot Extension – reducing the target are at the back of the court Reduction – increasing the size of the area at the back of the court Use of reciprocal teaching card SERVER – Feed a high underarm serve using racket to middle of opposite half court for pupil to perform the overhead clear towards the NET. Used to create space at the front of the court – defensive shot – ask why should be use a defensive shot? Mini Plenary – Cover the main topic of Overhead clear Go through the key words in French 5 Pupils will be sat alongside the court to go through and re-cap the key words Fist of 5 to gather Using the aid of flashcards and equipment to give hints to the answer Hands up for answer Repeating the words to Reduction – having the flashcards up whilst talking Extension – being able to pronounce without aid North East Partnership information emphasize pronunciation Activity 4 – Application to game Pupils will be encouraged to count their scores in French Queen of the court, winner moves up loser moves down Encouraging them to make a real effort with the counting They will be 2 minute games to make sure they get rotated equally 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 Pupils will play half court singles applying the 2 different serves and the overhead clear If the score a point with an overhead clear they get 2 points Conclusion/Plenary Pupils will be completing a Top Trumps card in French and in English which allows us to see where they are at understanding the current term after one lesson Test them on the French words – What is French for net..
