MBNL is the 50/50 joint venture established between Three UK and
Everything Everywhere to consolidate their radio access networks to
achieve a shared 3G network with greater capacity and coverage at
lower cost. The consolidation was completed on target during October
2010. The consolidation was one of the biggest and most complex
projects of this nature ever undertaken, with projected savings in the
billions of pounds. The complement of MBNL itself is small at c 145
heads but the team is responsible for managing well over 1,000 staff
employed on the programme through a number of vendors, including
Ericsson, BT, Arqiva and Nokia Siemens. We are now entering Phase
2 of the programme which the aim of consolidating the legacy OUK
network and rolling out 4G technology. Our aim is to ensure we
continue to deliver excellence, realise savings and ensure the Best
Network.

The role involves leading a small team of permanent FTE’s consisting
of fully qualified accountants and accounts payable staff. The key
purpose of the role is
To ensure that the company financial and management accounting
reporting requirements are met
To optimize the cash position of the company through effective cash
management and transparent cash reporting and forecasting
To ensure there are effective financial controls within MBNL in order to
ensure that the assets of the company are safeguarded
To implement effective month end and forecast processes in order to
ensure the SLA requirements of the Shareholders are met
Support the implementation of new reporting and forecasting tools
aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance
function

Management:
Work with other members of the finance team, parents and
vendors to ensure the month-end process works effectively and
all reporting and forecasting timelines are met
Support the delivery of the company quarterly forecast
Preparation of monthly management accounts which help drive
business decisions
Responsible for the transactional processing and controls within
accounts payable and receivable and the cash management
function.
Support statutory compliance including HMRC VAT submissions
Reconcile and process all intercompany entries on a monthly
basis, including restructuring, operating and organisational costs
Ensure balance sheet accounts are fully understood and are
reconciled on a monthly basis
Drive the delivery of new reporting and forecasting tools which will
enable the finance function to perform more effectively and focus
on more valued added activities
Support the delivery of financial projects which deliver benefits to
MBNL such as enhancing the control framework within MBNL,
improved automation across transactional tasks or reporting and
forecasting processes.
