ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY REVIEW Ross Smith OVERVIEW: The draft Annual Economic Development Action Plan for 2014/2014 has been circulated to the Committee for comment. The plan will be confirmed once the budget has been confirmed. Discussion covered the marketing of industrial land blocks, the Regional Living Expo and its value to ISC and the possibility of in-region expos for partner NE Shires. The Chiltern Master Plan/Placemaking project in 2014/2015 is confirmed. The Yackandandah Economic Response Project is confirmed. The Yackandandah Chamber of Commerce support program is a pilot program running for 12 months. Outcomes will be analysed for potential future roll-out in other ISC towns. Chiltern is holding an open day later in 2014. The transport industry is both a significant opportunity and an n escalating issue (truck parking) in Barnawartha and Chiltern. Urgent planning work is required to facilitate industrial expansion and protect township amenity. Carol Freedman’s letter to residents (undated) tabled for Committee reference. ACTIONS: Ross Smith to re-send draft Action Plan to Pauline van Aken. All IEDTAC members to review plan and provide comment by 20th June 2014. ACTION: Yackandandah Chamber of Commerce to write to Council requesting parking limit signs of 3-4 hours are installed along the main street to reduce all-day parking from non-customer vehicles. The reports will be circulated to the Committee and key points discussed at the next meeting. 7. GENERAL BUSINESS SPORTS TOURISM GAP ANALYSIS EVENT COMMITTEE RESILIENCE ACTIONS: Tourism & Economic Development Manager to work with IEDTAC Chair to schedule short workshops in future IEDTAC meetings (September 2014 onward) to: o identify sports tourism opportunities o identify product and infrastructure gaps and opportunities o identify actions and initiatives that will build event committee resilience EVENT FUNDING 2014/2015 The requested change to the Terms of Reference, relating to which IEDTAC members may vote on the grant allocations, is before Council for decision on 24th June 2014. The application form, grant criteria and grant allocation form has been revised as discussed at the May meeting. Further changes were recommended and agreed. ACTION: Tourism & Economic Development Manager to make final alterations as directed, to the Grant Program overview and application form and to brief Council and confirm Council approval for the 2014/2015 Grant Program to commence. MOTION: That Council approves the 2014/2015 Grant Program overview and application form, including the recommended allocation structure of grant funding.
