Dear Support Team,
June, 2014
He gave some as … pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the
building up of the body of Christ.
On May 6th, after five months of hospitalization and therapy for traumatic brain injury, our son Caleb was
discharged from Madonna Rehabilitation Day Program in Lincoln, NE. Caleb could hardly believe his eyes
when his two sisters, Faith and Grace, along with our grandchildren Victor and Ana Sofia, suddenly appeared
with posters and balloons congratulating him just as he finished his last therapy. We praise God for our loving
children who support and care for Caleb despite great sacrifice.
We praise the Lord for the beautiful trip out to California and back and for the fellowship with our son Kendle
and his family and several churches. While in Los Angeles, Kendle took us to the La Brea Tar Pits. From
fissures in the earth, asphalt bubbles up forming a pool where paleontologists have found many fossils of every
kind in the animal food chain. While we were standing in front of a bubbling pool of asphalt a tour guide said,
“This tar pit has been here 40,000 years.”
Our son Caleb quietly asked her, “How do you know it is 40,000 years old?”
“We know that because we are smart! And the scientists told us.” she proudly responded.
Caleb asked, “How do the scientists know how old it is?”
She answered, “They have carbon dating technology.”
“I don’t believe it is that old.” Caleb said.
“Well, that’s your opinion. We’re smart and we know it is 40,000 years old.”
“I believe in God.” Caleb declared.
“I believe in God and the scientist.” She said as she quickly walked away to another tar pit.
(appropriate next question,"and who do you believe when the two of them contradict each other?)
Also while in Los Angles, Caleb told us he wanted to be a missionary and go to The Master’s College so we
took him and they gave us a tour and prayed for Caleb and encouraged him by saying, “We don’t know what
God has planned for you Caleb but we do know that God afflicts us for our good and for His glory.” May that
be the desire of all of us to glorify God in our lives by gain or by loss.
Five days after arriving at Caleb’s home in Missouri, Caleb returned to his roofing job to work in the shop.
Abraham, our youngest son, who also works for the same company, drives Caleb to work and home. Caleb is
elated to be back to his home and church and working again.
After graduation with honors from The Master’s Seminary, Diego Ramos has returned to a very busy schedule
in Fortaleza, Brazil. Pray for the Brazilian church to support Diego in his ministry to edify the church of Jesus
Christ by expository teaching of God’s Word right from the first verse. In the midst of all the busyness of
translating conference speakers and books, and training men to be pastors pray that Diego will maintain
priorities to worship the Lord and love his wife and daughter.
We thank God for you, your love and prayers and support, making it possible for us to care for Caleb.
