TARGET MARKET ASSIGNMENT
Today we have been discussing demographics and target marketing. We have
discussed how important it is for marketers to target a specific group of people, rather
than the masses. If you try to sell to everyone, you will sell to no one.
You will choose a product or service and you must identify a specific segment of
the market that is going to be your target market. Example: 19-24 year old males, come
from upper-middle to high income families, living out on their own for the first time
and attending a college or university.
STEP 1: Research the product/service

Check the website, the prices, where it is sold, etc.
STEP 2: Identify the desired target market for the product/service
STEP 3: Complete the following task.
Now that you know your target market, it is your job to get inside the head of
these potential customers. You want to know everything about them.

You will ask yourself a variety of questions about your target market. (see the
next page) Please feel free to add your own question/personality traits/images
to describe your target market.
ASSIGNMENT: Creating a Collage of your target market





You will make a poster/collage of images that represent your target market. You
will use magazines, drawings, computer images in order to fill your page.
Remember to focus on the primary target.
Example: paste an advertisement for CSI: Miami if this is the type of show that
your target market would watch
On the back you must have a categorized list of all the items that you have
included and an explanation of their significance
Try to choose a product or service that has a specific target market
Make sure include the product of service in your collage
